? [Lantus Solostar] Loose stool since starting insulin

Hi all,

I started insulin with Pants 1/14. Now he is on a lot of medications, but other than stopping his 10lb dose of Atopica, he's had no other changes besides adding insulin from a Lantus Solostar pen.

As soon as we started insulin, he started to have loose stool. I was hoping it might clear up on its own after a couple days, but it just continues to get worse. I tried to give him some fortiflora last night, but he was not a fan of it over his dry food. I did resort to giving him proviable paste this morning, fingers crossed. I might be able to get more probiotics in him switching back to dry food, but the dry food has been helping with his anemia and I don't want to change more than the insulin and Atopica before our recheck tomorrow.

We're on 2 units to start with. I am still waiting on a new cord for his libre reader to update his spreadsheet, but it's looked very erratic the last few days. I'll be asking the vet as well, but has anyone else experienced this? Is it a side effect of the insulin, or is he having some sort of reaction to it? Or could I be screwing something up?

Thanks in advance...

Did you make any change in Pants' diet? If you switched if you made any changes, that may be why the GI upset.

I'm a big fan of S. boulardii for managing diarrhea. It's magic! FortiFlora is truly not a great probiotic. It doesn't contain enough strains to be effective. It works better as an appetite stimulant.

I made no changes to his diet :( No added or subtracted supplements, no real schedule changes aside from having today off. Only change has been discontinuing Atopica and starting insulin. He's been back on his dry food since a week before starting insulin, which really improved his stools from when he was on fancy feast (partly bc he was refusing it)

he's started to get a little more fussy about eating than before, but he's always struggled with dental disease so that's normal. He usually circles back to eat more later, but it does make giving insulin stressful for me.

I did check ketones on Saturday morning and there were none, haven't caught him going potty to check since

Any particular brands you recommend for S. boulardii in the US?
