My Cat, Murphy, was diagnosed with Diabetes 3 1/2 years ago. He went into remission 6 weeks after he was diagnosed thanks to a proper diet and Lantus. However, 8 months later the Diabetes resurfaced. He is currently on 1 unit of Lantus twice daily and I test him several times a day with Urinary Regeant Strips. I am now paying $208.00 for a vial of Lantus and was wondering if anyone knew of a Pharmacy that is less expensive? I am currently using Pathmark Pharmacy. Thanks.

With the Lantus coupon, you can get up to 3 refills of the Solostar Pen for $25 each. (This used to before 6 pens...it looks like they've changed some things.) You do have to call around to find a pharmacy that sells the pens individually, and when you fill out the form for the coupon, be sure to enter a birthdate that makes Murphy over 18 years old.

I didn't know they had changed the discount card. What a drag!!! I'm glad I got Champ's when it was still 6 pens.

DCIN (Diabetic Cats in Need) website talks about ways to get Lantus less expensively.

We recommend getting the pens and using them like small vials. You are more likely to use all of the pen contents before the insulin becomes less effective.

The price has gone up significantly in the US. Your best bet may be to order from a Canadian pharmacy.
