Lantus - Prefill Question

Hello - I know it is not reccommended, but has anyone pre-filled Lantus successfully and for how long? The syringes to be stored in ziplock bags, upright, and in fridge.
 
As I understand it, the reason you do not prefill is there is a coating in the syringes, it breaks down and you'll have little floaties
inside the syringe.

so you don't want to do that. You would also be exposing the insulin to light more often as it would sit in clear plastic bags,
clear syringes.
 
I don't think light is the issue. If it were, insulin wouldn't be packaged in clear glass.

It is not recommended to pre-fill syringe. This is the summary of the response from the article that Rhiannon linked:
Aventis Pharmaceuticals does not recommend prefilling syringes with Lantus and storing for any period longer than needed for application. In addition BD states the following (9): “BD does not recommend that any of our syringes be prefilled more than a few minutes in advance of the injection. There are no conclusive studies to determine the safety or risks associated with this practice.”
Aventis is the manufacturer of Lantus and BD is a syringe manufacturer. If both are saying to not pre-fill, I'd listen to their advice.
