I asked my vet today about getting a Lantus pen and he said it would not work, that it would give too much insulin. I tried telling him you don't inject the pen into the cat, that I saw a video that you can stick the needle into the pen to get out the correct dose. I feel that went unheard... When I called walgreens about the Lantus discount some have posted about--he said it has worked for some and it is worth a try. Now if only my vet would listen. Sometimes I feel like I am being spoken to like I don't know what I ma talking about and that when I go to him with info I get from this board--that I am making things up. Anyone else feel that way?

Also, has anyone ever used PetCareRX? Is that place legit?

I have noticed that since Piper has been on a low carb diet, that her need to drink a lot of water has drastically decreased.

I too didn't quite the concept of using a pen. But, you are so correct in the information that you merely aspirate the right amount of insulin using a syringe. My cat Stewey is receiving 1 unit twice daily and doing well. I adapted to the use very easily. And, the cost is so much more reasonable. Give your vet another go...any healthcare provider can learn new things. I am a retired R.N. and it took me a bit to grasp. It really is going to help you to provide care and cut your medical costs....Good luck, Jane and Stewey
