My Cookie is getting 1u Lantus once a day. Sleeps all day. Starts perking up around 6-7 pm. Mornings she seems fine. Not herself all day. Eating. not drinking a lot Just got a relion confirm. Scared to use it watching videos and reading all I could find here. Im more concerned about the lantus Does anyone give 1shot SID?

Without know Cookies BGs at shot time and at various times between shots I can't really know anything.
Most of us here tests are cat's BG using a human meter.
I would quickly at to a drug store and get urine test strips that measure both glucose and ketones. Lethargy is a sing of possible ketones and it serious.

Yes finicky about new lo carb but she eats deli chicken &Turkey low sodium. Not peeing more than normal i do have ketones strips

Lantus is usually given twice a day (I don't know of anyone here at the moment who is giving Lantus once a day). Insulin does not usually last much longer than 12 hours in a cat's system. (Cat's metabolize insulin about twice as fast as humans do.)
It may be that Cookie only has insulin in her system for half the day. Also, it may not be working as effectively as it could because Lantus is a 'depot' insulin that needs to build up a little store in the cat's body before it can work to full effect.
It would be good to know what Cookie's blood glucose levels are. Do you feel up to trying a test? I know it probably sounds a bit scary but it may well be easier than you think. You may just surprise yourself! And there is nothing to be lost by trying...
Just make sure her ears are nice and warm. It'll make it a lot easier.
And please know that this should not hurt Cookie at all. There are very few nerve endings in the outer edge of the cat's ear.

Try warming the ear for a lot longer than you think might be necessary. That really helped me to get a better testing success rate when first testing Saoirse.

I feel for you, Donna. Saoirse was a bit of a wriggler when it came to giving her insulin but, when it comes to testing, I'm spoilt rotten that she's so co-operative. (Treats. Lots of treats.

The colored headings at the top are the ranges of glucose values. They are color-coded to clue you in as to meaning.
Each day is 1 row. Each column stores different data for the day.
From left to right, you enter
the Date in the first column
the AMPS (morning pre-shot test) in the 2nd column
the Units given (turquoise column)
Then, there are 11 columns labeled +1 through +11
If you test at +5 (5 hours after the shot), you enter the test number in the +5 column
If you test at +7 (7 hours after the shot), you enter the test number in the +7 column
and so on.
Halfway across the page is the column for PMPS (evening pre-shot)
To the right is another turquoise column for Units given at the evening shot.

I remember that I thought I was going to vomit when getting Vyktor's first test! Turns out it bothered me a lot more than it bothered him. Treats are an essential part of testing though. Most people give a little low carb treat like freeze dried meat, or in Vyktors case a little raw chicken but there are some kitties that prefer a brushing or something else. The good news is that the kitty then starts to associate testing time with treats and most of them will grow to be very calm and cooperative just like the cats in the videos 
it wasn't long before Vyktor started purring when he saw the meter coming and the cat I am currently treating comes racing for his tests.
I too do not know of anyone that successfully treated their cat with SID dosing of lantus.

My own health issues precluded giving her doses that might take her to - or below - the hypo threshold during the PM cycle because I could not guarantee staying conscious in order to monitor her/steer her curves should the need arise. I took advantage of her tendency to run low on the PM cycle and only gave her Lantus on the AM cycle.

I've seen SID dosing with Lantus or Levemir work in a few cats. Usually they're on super-low doses already and are heading toward remission, but occasionally, they might be on a medication that interferes with BID dosing.
For the most part, however, SID dosing does not work well.

That was the case with Saoirse, Kay. She became tightly regulated but her numbers started trending upwards as she went down the dosing scale, notably so on her first (failed) OTJ trial. The switch to SID dosing allowed me to continue her treatment safely until her data showed beyond all doubt that her pancreas was able to cope without the assistance of injected insulin. Indeed, she did better at that stage on SID microdosing than BID microdosing.
