Lacey Boots update

Lacey Boots is now 1 month OTJ. Doing well. I had taken her to the vet twice in the last month to have her bg checked and have the vet look her over and the first time I took her, her bg was 107 and the second time it was 122. They also did something called a fructosamine. Have any of you heard of this? The result came back showing that she is in good regulation of her diabetes. So I am to just keep with the diet I have her on and they told me that I don't need to bring her back until November. I will probably take her in a month just to make sure everything is okay still. I DO have the home testing paraphanalia if she starts acting strange. But so far she is doing great. Attached is her photo after having her groomed for the summer.

The fructosamine test tells you the average BG level over a 2-4 week period. It is a good tool for diagnosing FD. If you have home tested, I would suggest that you continue to home test, say once a day (at different times) for a month, then once every other day for another month, then once a week, then once a month or whenever you feel like it after that.

You will save yourself money going to the vet all the time and certainly save on a fructosamine test which isn't necessary if you home test.

congrats on your otj.
