? Lab tests

I am looking into getting my kitty Stasiu tested for Acro and IAA. What tests should my vet be running now that Stasiu is on a high dose of insulin and is still not regulated? He gave me a quote for running IGF-1 only.
 
Hi Joanna. The same lab that does the IGF-1 test does the test for IAA. Your kitty's sample will be sent to the vet diagnostic lab at Michigan State University (currently the only lab in the US that does the IGF-1 test). Both tests should be requested at the same time - I tried to add the IAA test later, and was told it was too late.

This is the link to the labs catalog. Code is 20005 for IGF-1 and 20031 for insulin auto antibodies (IAA). It shouldn't be that much more to do the IAA test. Many vets seem reluctant to get the IAA test. You may have to ask the vet to humour you.
 
As Wendy said, vets seem to think IAA is so very rare that it's a useless test in most cases. My vet tried to dissuade me from bothering but I insisted. She was gobsmacked when tests came back negative for Acro but positive for IAA. I love my vet for trying not to waste client's money but I appreciate the fact she was willing to humour me and she's now learned that testing for both at the same time is worth the small extra bit of cash involved.
