KITTY NOT DRINKING WATER

My kitty Max, who is gluten intolerant. He is on Royal Canin Rabbit and Venison wet and dry. Max eats one can of wet a day and 1/2 cup of dry at night. Max was drinking more before, but now he isn't drinking so much water. He is still urinating normally. Should we be worried that he isn't drinking as much. He wasn't drinking too much like Roscoe did before she was diagnosed, but he just doesn't seem to want to drink water and we don't want him to get dehydrated. I've been in touch with the vet and she says as long as he is urinating and acting normal there probably isn't too much to worry about, but I still wonder why he isn't drinking especially with eating dry food. Any advice is welcomed.

Cats are designed to get all their water directly from the food. It's great that you are feeding some canned food  What you can do is add extra water to the canned food to ensure that your cat is getting plenty of water. The canned food doesn't need to be soup-like, unless your cat likes it. A few spoonfuls of water added to the canned food is good for most cats.

My cat is on 100% wet and I see him drink from his water dish maybe once every 2 weeks at the most. It is always full but I still change it out every day. Crazy considering before when he was unregulated and eating dry he could easily drink about 4-6 cups of water a day.

One of my cats has never ever drunk water from a bowl and I have to 'soup' his food.
I try to put 1part water and 2 parts wet food.

Thank you for all the replies, so I'm not going to worry so much. I thought there was something seriously wrong with him. I love this forum and all these message boards, all of you have a way of calming "nervous mothers" down.

:-D
