Kitty Day 7 - 5.1@pm, 4.2@pm + worries about the food situation

Happy Half Way Day to Kitty and her pancreas! :D

She has been on the 5's the last couple of days, so I tried removing some of the types of wet food that are out for the other cats, but that Kitty occasionally nibbles on. Maybe it worked, maybe its coincident, but she was in the 4's now :D

I am really struggeling to find affordable wet food that I can feed the whole crew on. Feeding them all on Fancy Feast, would cost me the same as my rent is every month (and would be the other half of my monthly income). I just can not do that. I got electric bills and dogs, and I do like eating food myself as well :banghead:

This is one of my biggest worries. I want to right by them, but I can not keep the wet food feeding up for everyone, unless I find an affordable sollution. I can afford it for one cat, but 5 is... well 5 times as much. I haven't given up though, I keep looking. Another option is to go across the border to Sweden a few times a year and stock up. They have cheaper food, so I will definitely look into how much that would cost me, included travel expenses.

Hi Carina,

I'm not on the Board much these days, so I haven't posted on your thread before. I wanted to congratulate you and Kitty on making it through the first half of your OTJ trial.

I see Wendy and I are on the same track. I was just going to suggest making your own food. I do it for my two civvies and it is a lot cheaper, as well as being healthier for them. Of course, I don't know what things cost in Norway, nor how difficult it might be to get all the supplements, but it's worth looking into.

Don't give up. A solution is out there. Meanwhile, keep up the good work!

Have you ever thought about making your own cat food? Dr. Lisa’s site has a recipe. I made my own with anpremix and found it cheaper than buying cans.
I should definitely look more into that. I had a little look around, but at the time i was so overwhelmed by all kitty's diagnosis, it felt like just too much. I'll have another go at it, now that I'm in a better place mentally. :)

In general, everything is expensive (expect dry food, typical isn't it?), and so is food from grocery store. I will have to look into what would be needed and compare :) I'm definitely not closed off to the idea! :)
