This post is not about our diabetic kitty Zoey, but about my childhood kitty Neko who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She is 17 years old and was my childhood cat. She had been doing well until just a few days ago when my parents noticed her belly increasing in size. They promptly brought her to the vet and they took a fluid sample and the cells were cancerous. She is doing okay right now, but given she was just at the vet 2 weeks ago and was deemed healthy I think this is going to be fast. I am so sad for her. I know she has lived a long life but it's hard to lose a friend you grew up with. I know this is not diabetic related, but I know we are all kitty lovers. I know these next few weeks are going to be hard for my parents. Prayers would be appreciated for our friend Neko. Thanks.
 
Sending lots of prayers for your family and Neko. I have lost so many cats to cancer, and have had it myself, and it is never easy to go through.

I pray that she will be given palliative treatment, with pain meds, and that she will not suffer long.

She made it to a really good old age, and you were all blessed to have her for so long. Please keep us posted.

I've been through that with a couple cats and I know how rough that is.
 
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. By monday, neko wasn't really eating and had starting vomitting. She went to kitty heaven yesterday. I am very sad, but happy that she is no longer suffering. Just wanted to give an update.
 
So sorry for the loss of your friend Neko. I am glad that she had such a good life with you and your parents, and that she did not suffer with the cancer for long. My thoughts are with you.
 
Nekos work here is done. She enjoyed a good long life and so it continues. Maybe in a different way but I pray, she comes to you in a dream and lets you know how much you are loved. My sincere condolences.

It is so hard to lose a furbaby, no matter how young or how old. There never seems to be enough time. I am so sorry that you have lost Neko, but she is no longer suffering. I pray that you and your parents will always carry her memories in your hearts.

It's a tough situation, but I am sure you won't let the cat suffer. Thinking of you.....
