Kitty and Chewy 5/10--Losing Weight

Good Morning!

I went to the vet school yesterday to refill Kitty's meds. While I was there, I had her weighed-- she is down to 6.8 pounds. She weighed 8.9 pounds before her illness. I was fearful that she had lost additional weight, but I was hoping that she had stabilized. I gave the appetite stimulant this morning, hoping it might spark her to EAT more. Some days I feel like her condition is improving, and then other days it is SO hard to watch her decline. I must say-- I am tired of giving all of the meds and I know she is tired of taking them. I continue to hope that she might improve some.

Yesterday her mdps (+8) was 109--- I waited and shot at +12-- she was 505. I shot 2.5 units, truly not knowing what to shoot. Due to her eating habits, I am really struggling to find a dose that will keep her in decent numbers. I needed to shoot bid today, so this morning at her amps (+12) she was HI. I shot 2.8 and hope that she will be shootable at +8 today.

I have a continuing Education class until lunch today and then I will be home. I hope that when I return, she will be HUNGRY and shootable!

Chewy is gearing up for his Party tomorrow!

Oh Kim, I am sorry you and Kitty are struggling. It must feel really awful to go from 109 to 505 so fast. Seems like her illness is causing the insulin to act even more strangely than usual. I admire your working so hard to keep on top of things.

Kim, I know it must feel like you are on a roller coaster & you are screaming "I want off!" You are doing a fantastic job with kitty. It's going to take some time for her to get better. She was really sick. She used one of her 9 lives. Give her time she will start eating like she use to & gain weight. Keep doing what you are doing. :YMHUG:

Going shopping today for a new party dress for me & Baxter is getting all ready for the party tomorrow. We are so excited! dancing_cat
 
Sorry Miss Kitty has lost weight; I do hope she'll start gaining, again. But, it takes time. I wish I could give her my ability to look at food and gain weight ;-)

Tell Chewy we'll be there tomorrow with bells on!

So sorry to hear Kitty has lost more weight. Maybe since her numbers are so variable right now, you could give her some higher calorie food or Nutrical to try to build her up.
She was really sick and will take awhile to put some weight back on.
