Good Morning!

Kitty seems to be feeling better. I hate to even suggest that she might be feeling better, as it seems that has been a Jinx lately! Nothing in her treatment has really changed since I took her to the vet on Wednesday, except the addition of the Omeprazole. I wouldn't have thought, it would have made a big positive impact on her...but, maybe it has. I am more inclined to think that "something" else is reasponsible for her improved attitude. I have given her the bupe on a more regular schedule, so maybe the bupe is helping also. She is due to get the appetite stimulant today, but I am not intending on giving it. She woke me up wanting to eat again this morning-- the vet said I really should use the appetite stimulant on an as needed basis, as it can build up in the cat's system and have some negative effects. So, for now-- no appetite stimulant today! She seems much perkier and alert today and is interacting more with the other cats. I am shooting tid, and her BGs have been lower the last two days-- mabye another indication that she is in less pain. As I have stated earlier, I know none of this is Good and that the outcome will not be favorable, BUT I am thankful for EVERY pain free day that we can spend together. So, Today---- I am Thankful!

Chewy is Wonderful! He has taken over the couch on the sunporch! I am going to weigh him today....he has gained A LOT of weight in the last month! I still am amazed that he was an owner surrender to a High Kill Shelter--- what a shame that such a wonderful cat like Chewy could end up in such a terrible place. Never Again, he is Safe and Loved now!

Wishing Everyone a Great Day and Weekend from Diabetic Alley......

Can't imagine anyone surrendering any cat but Chewy? Just stuns me - but all things happen for a reason and he's with you now ... that's the only reason that makes sense to me.

So happy to hear Cool Sweet Kitty started off the day with a good appetite and feeling perkier.

Hugs and headbonks to all the diabetic alley crewe.

It is so interesting how things change so quickly for Kitty. Wednesday she had very little appetite, Today-- I can't fill her up! She has eaten three cans of food today and this is without the appetite stimulant! I have read a lot of conflicting information about "how much" you should feed a cat or a dog recovering from pancreatitis. One train of thought is to resume feeding "normal" amounts asap, while another train of thought is to let the pancreas rest and to feed smaller amounts. I am starting to wonder if I am overfeeding at times and stimulating her pancreas too much. Thus causing pain and discomfort and setting her recovery back. I really don't know, but it is very strange how she goes from not wanting any food to being a Pig! I prefer the PIG mode!!!

For the second straight weekend it is gray and cool in the Alley, so we are cleaning and relaxing. That sounds like an Oxymoron-- in fact it is!

Hopefully, Kitty will continue to EAT.....it is so Hard to see her with a poor appetite. Thanks for the continued Good Thoughts and Vibes, it means a lot to us!

Kim,
You asked in KT's condo if Scruffy, my CHF civie takes Lasix (furosemide) - yes, 10mg a day plus 1 Enalapril 2.5mg a day. We've been doing that since his dx in early January. I just now realized that's over 3 months already! Overall he's really done well even tho' he's not up to par right now.

BIG HUG!
