Good Morning!
Kitty is still hanging in there. She seems to be stablilizing some. She is eating MUCH better and I see no signs of pain of respiratory distress. The biggest thing we are fighting right now are her High BGs. She has only been eating high carb gravy foods since her crash, and I was scared to attempt the switch back to low carb foods too soon. I tested and shot tid yesterday (every 8 hours) and she was above 500 at each preshot. I shot 3.2 units each time, but it had little effect on the higher BGs. I did start her back today on the Special Diet Friskies flavors and she ate it very well, so hopefully we can ditch the higher carb foods and her BGs will come down. I am so leary of everything at the moment, but I Hope that the Higher Carb foods are the culprit for the high BGs. Prior to the Ptitis, I only fed 5 percent carbs or less foods-- so, I am assuming the 18 percent carb foods are the culprit! Time will tell! She has a follow up appointment at the vet school next week, so hopefully she will continue to improve or at the least hold her own. Yes, she is still very weak and frail.....but, she does seem better!
Sir Chewy! I filled the adoption papers out yesterday, but I have not sent them back into Venita...it is on my "to do list!" I checked him this morning after a BIG breakfast and he was 84! He is a great Cat and I am glad he is going to join my family! We will have a OTJ and a Welcome to the Family Party Soon!
Things seem to be settling down in the Alley...after a very Hectic Month!
Wishing Everyone a Great Day from a Sunny Diabetic Alley........
