Good Morning!

Today Kitty goes to the vet and starts her epogen and iron shots. I have searched the net and have lots of information to share and ask my vet about.

To those of you that give Methyl B12--what is your dosage? I have read that it can be beneficial in treating anemia and I have some (Xobaline 3 mg tablets), but I want to be sure I do not give too much. I have read that it is water soluable and what is not used is excreted, but I want to be sure that I do not overdose her.

She is still eating good, bright eyed and alert. I will be glad when she starts the shots, I want to be proactive and I feel like I am waisting precious time waiting to start her shots. They are going to repeat some labs today--I am hoping there might be a little improvement.

Chewy is still coasting...+153 105!

Wishing Everyone a Great Day from Kittyville......

Hoping for good numbers at the vet... and success w/ her shots.

Isn't Chewy doing well! Good for all of you!!!

Hoping for improvement in today's tests and that the shots will do just what they're supposed to do. Glad to hear Kitty is alert and eating well; that's always good to hear!

Wow, Chewy!!

Praying...

Paws crossed...ears up! Waiting to hear a vet update.

Chewy is looking so good! Keep it up pretty boy! You might get a party soon.

I'm glad Kitty is starting the meds today.

I can't remember the dosage of the Methyl B-12, I think it was pretty high though.

Go Chewy.

We went to the vet today--but, they did not repeat the blood work. The vet said it "probably" was too soon to see any dramatic change, positive or negative, in the blood work. She gave Kitty the epogen shot and iron. She gave me a potassium supplement, and I gave it today, but I am not sure about continuing it-- I need to research it more.

Kitty is laying around, not very active at all. She is eating and comfortable. The vet said not to expect any big positive changes for a couple of weeks, as it takes that long for the anemia meds to start working. So, the goal is to keep her stable until then. I do feel like I am just waiting and waiting....... I am still considering taking her to the vet school this weekend, as I think they would be more aggresive in her treatment.

It is hard to really know what to do....I would just like to see some encouraging sign of improvement.

Thanks for the support!

Follow your instincts, so far they have been spot on.

If you think the vet school will get her stabalized faster then go for it.

What ever you decide to do we will back you up.

Hi Kim,

I'm very interested to know how Kitty does on the epogen as Sid may need that in the future at some point. Sid gets 0.25 ml of methyl b12 injected once/week. I believe he was only supposed to get this for a month but I give it to him every week because of the anemia and because of his IBD. Good luck with Kitty. She is lucky to have you as her mama!!

So happy about Chewy too - go, Chewy, go!!!

Glad to hear that kitty is getting such great help and care. Hope all the shots will start to help. I give copper 5 pills of zobabline per day. I crush in his food 5 times/day. They really are starting to help his neuro.

Glad to hear about Chewy doing so good!

You are doing an amazing job Kim, trust your gut and it will serve you well. Miss Kitty and Chewy are lucky babies, how is Sally?
Nancy .....

Lori, do you give the Methyl B 12 at one feeding or do you spread it out over the day?
