Kitty 8/26.....Ready for Irene!

Kitty was 150 at her pmps (+8) last night--I didn't want to shoot that number, I had given fluids earlier in the day and I didn't want to bottom her out. Her pmps was at midnight, and I needed some sleep! I set the alarm and woke up to check her at +13--426! I am not surprised--I'm certain her liver didn't like the low numbers yesterday. I shot a f3.5.

Keeping thinking EAST! Irene jogged East a little overnight. Most weather models indicate that some additional Eastward movement could happen today before landfall. When dealing with a hurricane, you always want to be on the west side of the storm---so, THINK EAST!

We will start to feel the effects of Irene tonight, but Saturday will be "THE DAY" for North Carolina!

Kitty and I are prepared and as ready as we can get!

I am working a half day and then going home to make final preparations.

I will keep you updated! Hopefully the 11 am update will move Irene further East.

The city is shutting down today @ noon so I'm going home also, thank goodness I'm not "essential" personel! Some of the people in my office are on the damage assessment team so they are preparing to work Sunday. I'm so glad I didn't get asked to do that! No way would I want to venture out after a big storm!

Kim, you still have time to RUN! I can't imagine waiting for a huge storm to hit! Keeping good thoughts and prayers to you and everyone in the path!
 
Just wanted to share this....as tough as today is for coastal eastern North Carolina, I can still find happiness in little things!

I came home to give Cool Kitty her 11 am shot..and when I walked in the house I heard this growling familiar noise upstairs. I immediately went to see what it was and "who" it was.....Cool Kitty had her toy mouse in her mouth playing--- Almost, totally overshadowing the anxiety I am experiencing today!

Her preshot was 250--I shot 3.5--- A good day for Cool Kitty!

New update on Irene--she has jogged back to the West, and landfall is predicted directly where my beach house is! Things could still change....THINK EAST HARDER!!!!

The winds are down to 105--maybe she will weaken a little more.

EAST......GO East Irene!
 
I really hope both of your homes are spared, Kim. I never liked dealing with hurricanes. The uncertainty, the shuttering, the constant public service announcements and feeling like you have to stay glued to weather reports, the preparations, etc. Way too much excitement. We still have our FL beach house so we always have to worry about getting it shuttered up, etc. this time of year. Shutters were the best investment we made though. Beats the heck out of plywood.

Stay safe, okay? Glad to hear that Kitty is feeling so well! I always love it when they play with toys like that. Shaikha is feeling pretty good these days too -- and her pancreas is working again, though she still needs insulin (likely won't change as long as she takes steroids and that's not going to change unless the IBD and pancreatitis miraculously disappear).

Do you guys have shutters on your houses? Do you have a generator? I know you are well-stocked in the insulin department! Hope the impact isn't as bad as they are forecasting.

:smile: So glad to hear she's playing with that mouse! I remember a while back you saying she never went up the steps anymore! Thumper was recently playing with the plastic strip you pull off the milk jug. It made me happy to see her throwing that thing around.
 
It is the little things in life that can make you the happiest!!
I love when something like that happens and it makes everything else seem so small.
Glad miss kitty is doing so well today
