Re: Kitten 3/15 Day 5 +109.75 BG 55

I'm Awed! Kitten is doing awesome!

Hopefully Hobie will be feeling his old self soon. I hate when that happens - gotta be one of the most unpleasant things to deal with.

The good news is you're on top of the situation. Great job to you all!!!

Re: Kitten 3/15 Day 5 +109.75 BG 55

Well, Hobie hadn't pooped by the time I got home, I even repeated his enema this morning. He is eating and drinking, upset that his backside is covered in a mixture of KY and mineral oil, so he's about to get a bath. I was able to "assist" him in getting another chunk out just a few minutes ago, so it's moving. Now I can check 1. give a cat and enema and 2. stick a finger up a cat's butt to remove poo off my bucket list. Hooray!

OT, DH has (had) a rather ratty pair of dress shoes he wears everyday that I kept telling him to replace. Mr. Hobie held his enema all the way home from the ER last night, and then made a brown KY/mineral oil waterfall all over them. Problem solved (but DH is still is trying to wash them).

Re: Kitten 3/15 Day 5 +109.75 BG 55

Tell DH to quit washing the shoes and to go buy a new pair with the money you are going to save on buying insulin! Let's see...at $120 a bottle, tell him to get a REALLY Nice pair!

Glad kitten is doing so well!!

Re: Kitten 3/16 Day 6 +133 BG 59

Alright Cathy - you've been visibly absent today! We're all on the edge of our seats waiting to hear!

How's Kitten? Still doing the "I Wanna Be OTJ" dance???

Re: Kitten 3/16 Day 6 +133 BG 59

Kind of disturbing that those two items were on your "bucket list"...

Kim should know....for awhile there she had a stock pile!

I'm happy she's gone this long without insulin!!

Re: Kitten 3/16 Day 6 +133 BG 59

Save'n the date....March 25, 2012. Time please? Baxter & I will have some prepping to do. It's been a while since a party. We will have to get our hair & nails done.

I will bring some raw chicken breast & party horns.

I don't know how I missed your 2 accomplished bucket list goals.
Your DH...is to funny. I would have thrown those shoes out by now & told my DH we are going to mall.
When you go shopping for new shoes for DH you be sure to get you something. You deserve something new for all you been through! Sticking your finger up a cats butt is very traumatizing. @-) A new pair of shoes will diffently help you feel better. Go it them girl!

Sorry, very long 11 hour day at work. Just got finished dealing with 32 12 year olds....Kitten is still doing great, Hobie is eating and drinking and did make a "deposit" on his own. I think he just doesn't want any more fingers up his butt.

You wouldn't believe the looks you get from the cashier when buying KY and a enema together....should have thrown a jar of pickles in there for the hell of it.

* extremely disturbing, but guess what shoes Steve had on when I got home? @-) "But they're so comfortable!"

I got the visual, alrighty! And I thought I got the looks when I buy 4 cases of fancy feast and a package of bagels!

Re: Kitten 3/19 Day 9 am BG 40

So I ran out of strips and can't test tonight because walmart didn't have any on the shelves when I stopped after work. I'll have to run out in the am when the pharmacy reopens, but her numbers seem to keep dropping. She now seems to like hanging in the 40's, haven't seen her above 62 in 6 days.

And Hobie seems to be doing a little better, things are moving along now...slowly but at least he's not totally stopped up.

 Guys are so weird sometimes! If you're reading...sorry Carl! My DH sees no problem running around in T Shirts with holes in them! You'd think he was homeless or something.

Re: Kitten 3/19 Day 10 am BG 32

So I went back to her old meter since I didn't have any strips for her ReliOn. I was a little worried, "what if the meter's been giving bad readings and she's really not green?" No worries though, her BG is 32 one hour after a bigger than intended meal and we are now on Day 10! The end of day 14 will officially be the 25th at 6:30 am.

Re: Kitten 3/19 Day 10 pm BG 48

Hi there, I'm just curious about the 32...... I'd be a total mess!!!!!! Are you basing it on knowing the ReliOn gives a higher read than old meter?

Re: Kitten 3/19 Day 10 pm BG 48

Way to go Kitten! Only 5 more day til the party. :RAHCAT
We can't wait. dancing_cat The party supplies should be here tomorrow. flip_cat

Actually my relion tends to give lower readings, but neither are probably accurate at these low numbers. Kitten is not on insulin anymore and just over 3 days until she is officially in remission....that's why no one is freaking out! It is a little weird the first couple days, because those numbers invoked panic previously.

Re: Kitten 3/21 Day 11 BG 39

anti-jinx!
looking forward to a party this weekend!

Re: Kitten 3/21 Day 12 BG 37

She's still chuggin along, she has now decided apparently that the 50's do not suit her  she'd rather run in the 30's and 40's.

*Just to point out you'd normally want to check BG much more frequently when going OTJ to catch any rises, Kitten just stays so tightly regulated in very low numbers I don't see the point in pricking her all the time.

Re: Kitten 3/22 Day 12 BG 37

What an amazing place to be! We're all still here

cheering for you! :RAHCAT Go Kitten!!!

Re: Kitten 3/22 Day 12 BG 37

Awsome,
Way to go Kitten. Keep up the great work. I know how you feel about sleeping in, Im hoping to do a little this weekend.

Re: Kitten 3/23 Day 13 pm BG 38

Yes, very relieved that she's doing well, and she's thrilled she feels better. Tomorrow is the last full day, if she keeps it up she is OTJ in 32.5 hours.

Now if Hobie would just get "regulated". I don't know what's up with him, he has gone on his own but it just seems like he has a hard time moving the poo that last inch...it just backs up in there. I'm wondering if he's holding it because it hurts to go?

Re: Kitten 3/23 Day 13 pm BG 38

Right around the corner little Kitten!!! Woo Hoo!!! Come on down!!! Party hats for EVERYONE!!! (but no walrus strings!)

You'd probably have to glue it on her, she's very tolerant of sweaters but not so much about things on her head. Tried a halloween hat one year, it wasn't fun for anyone.

Re: Kitten 3/23 Day 13 pm BG 38

I was very impressed with Lu's photos of Grayson's b-day party because all the kitties seemed to have no problem with the hats. I've tried b-day party hats a few times over the years, and none of them ended well!

Cathy, you really need to insist DH get some new shoes. You'll never be able to look at them without remembering this entire episode!

Barbara, I might have a t-shirt or two with holes, but I don't wear them outside the house..... but I wouldn't try to salvage a pair of shoes that had been used as an emergency litter box....

that's just "wrong"....

Carl

Carl, I tried throwing them out but he retrieved them....I might have to burn them. As for the KY/enema incident, after the cashier looked me up and down I almost said "It's for my cat!", but I bit my tongue because I realized that actually sounded worse :-D

I think it's about time Kitten got herself a new little thread... what time are the festivities???
