No point in stalling on this one, food and I GET TO GO BACK TO SLEEP!!!!!!

*aw crap, no I don't, have to call into work in a half hour so there's no point. SO CLOSE TO SLEEPING IN!!!

Re: Kitten PMPS +12.25 136, guess who's back? Skipping.

Jenn....what bait/trap would you set?

Thinking of propping a box up on a stick with a string tied to it and leaving a syringe containing a bump of ProZinc under it.....MR. P can't seem to resist small doses of insulin.

*off to work, hope Mr. P plays nice today!

Re: Kitten PMPS +12.25 136, guess who's back? Skipping. +15

LOL just went to fix my coffee and I'm like "why is it clear?".....No sugar today, but it helps to place the filter ::back:: in the machine after you fill it.

Re: Kitten PMPS +12.25 136, guess who's back? Skipping. +15

What a lovely number! Hoping food and Mr. P will keep her surfing along in double digits for a while.

Re: Kitten PMPS +12.25 136, guess who's back? Skipping. +15

Awesome numbers! Getting up early to see that is worth having to make the coffee twice
We’re on our second pot here ~O) ~O) ~O)

Re: Kitten PMPS +12.25 136, +15 78, +20.5 82

Alrighty, I'm gonna repeat the late snack trial again to see what happens. I think this is the only way I have to predict whether we'll get P action and be able to go NS tonight, or at the least bring her up to a shootable number at PMPS time.

Re: Kitten PMPS +12.25 136, +15 78, +20.5 82

Alright...I am sad to report Mr P has left the building, snack at +20.75, +21.5 is 147. Hate to put her up higher with that little snack, but it is really helpful to be able to forecast her needs tonight! Mr. P is pooped again!

Re: Kitten +24.25 112, Trapped Mr. P!

Apparently Mr P was just taking a cat nap....she dropped to 112 and is now +23.25, might wait 2 hours to test since he was a little sleepy so I'm not shocked if I see a higher number again.

*forgot that 6:45 today was 5:45 yesterday.

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, skipping, +25.25 119. Trapped Mr. P!

She's holding....which is good. No dropping, but he's hanging in there. +25.25 119

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, skipping, +25.25 119. +26 140

So I'm going to try her next meal and see what happens, but I have a feeling she's gonna need a shot at some point tonight. If the food is at least 2 hours before the shot, can I shoot on the food influenced number? Any suggestions on shooting tonight? I can go to zero, which would be shooting 0.025u or less...

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, skipping, +25.25 119. +26 140

This is just a guess based on our cat, but food seems to hit the numbers 45 mins to an hour after it’s eaten, and depending on how much has been eaten, numbers won’t start to fall until +3 or 4 for a whole meal. But our data is from a big 20 lb. hoover cat on a large amount of insulin. I am SURE your mileage will vary by quite a bit!!!

Let’s get some other opinions.....

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, skipping, +25.25 119. +26 140

I don't think you can count on a food influenced number with the recent pancreas action. I would feed and wait an hour and test, to see if the pancreas kicks back in.

I have no idea what you need to shoot....just, as little as possible!

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, skipping, +25.25 119. +26 140

Yeah I don’t know that I’d totally trust the number after feeding. You’ll just have to test more to see when it goes up and what it goes up to. Err on the low side obviously due to Kitten’s recent history!
I just have no experience on micro dosing at all, sorry I am no help....

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, skipping, +25.25 119. +26 140

She's hanging in there....+27 127, we'll just be playing the waiting game I guess, I can't even think about shooting her below 180 I think.

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, +25.25 119, +26 140(+snack), +27 127

Looking great! Totally agree on the 180, you've got the hang of this!

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, +25.25 119, +26 140(+snack), +27 127

Looks like Kitten and Chewy are having some kind of a dance party w/ Mr. P! Awesome!!! dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat

Re: Kitten +23.25 112, +25.25 119, +26 140(+snack), +27 127

Alright, this just isn't going to happen tonight, she may throw high AMPS and If I wake up in a couple hours I'll check her and see if she's shootable, but she's just kinda hanging on, I could feed her again, but I really think Mr. P is exhausted and needs a rest. +29 157, hell of a run today.

Re: Kitten +34.5 74!!!!!

Alright, not what I expected at all! Mr. P must've gotten into the RedBull, +34.5 is 74 and I didn't feed her last night after her last test. I get to go back to bed!!!

Re: Kitten +34.5 74!!!!!

Did someone tell Kitten she could have an "OTJ" by her name if she tried real hard???

Numbers are looking amazing!!! Go Kitten!

I told her if she did really well I'd stop pricking her ears all the time.

She had breakfast 2.5 hours ago and dropped down 10 points to 64 +37.5, she's just chugging along now!

I don't know now I missed your post yesterday. Yesterday was messed up for Baxter & I.

Mr.P might escape the box & string pull trap. He is fast. I am thinking hiding behind a piece of furniture. Have a blow dart ready. When you get first clue he is there....blow dart him. Put him in a box, tape it up & ship him to me.

You have some really promising numbers. I would love to attend a OTJ party soon. PZI hasn't had one in about a month.

Re: Kitten 3/12 +47.5 74 All Green day!!

So I had to work all day and DH was busy working on the other house, so I don't have a ton of data....but she seems to like hanging around in the 64-75 range. I seriously suspect we never saw a blue today, she is super active and lovey! This is just so wonderful.....I think she's got this!

Re: Kitten 3/12 +47.5 74 All Green day!!

I think she's got it too.

It takes 14 days without insulin to call it official and have a party, I'll start dusting off the party hats.

Re: Kitten 3/12 +50.75 55 All Green day!!

Looks Wonderful! I am happy for Kitten and You!

Re: Kitten 3/13 +67 BG 55

I've just started spot checking her before feeding now, she's hanging to the 50-70 range so tightly I don't see the need to keep poking her.

She's got the "leave me alone, I got this!!!" look right now. 11.5 days to go.

Re: Kitten 3/13 +67 BG 55

Kitten & Chewy are rocking the board! At this rate, we may have TWO to celebrate! party_cat party_cat

Honestly, this is SOOOOOOOO good to see! Who knew just a month or two ago that we'd have such high highs and low lows... on our dance roller coaster?... only to be approaching the OTJ station! Okay, so the train still has a little way to go, but this is just amazing!!! Great job to the beans and everyone supporting them!

Re: Kitten 3/13 +67 BG 55

this is so terrific! I really believe when you get them close like you did with kitten if you can just give them that push into the greens (as scary as it was) it helps the body get back to that level!

Great Work

I think so too, I'm calling it setting the pancreatic thermostat!

78 +75.5

Re: Kitten 3/14 +85.5 BG 52

4 days down, I'm gonna have to change hour notation soon because it takes me forever to figure it out.

Re: Kitten 3/14 +85.5 BG 52

Thanks robin, she couldn't have done it without y'all. Cause I had no idea what to do!

Re: Kitten 3/14 +85.5 BG 52

WOW! There's just nothing to say, but WOW! 85 hours without the juice... I know you've GOT to be dancing on the ceiling! And I can only imagine how good Kitten feels right now. Woo Hoo!!! Hat's off to both of you!

Re: Kitten 3/14 +85.5 BG 52

OMG...we are getting excited here in Htown!

I gotta get some party favors ordered! party_cat Its been so long since a OTJ party I threw the others out.

She seems like she feels amazing...I feel bad because I've been so busy since November that I didn't realize how much her behavior had changed, and what I did notice I attributed to her being a chunky middle-aged kitty. Not so, she's playing so much now and actually almost was able to jump on the bed last night without climbing the side!

I need to get her to the vet, she's behind on vaccinations, dental, needs to get a little soft lump on her tail looked at, probably re-run the liver panel, and now her eye is running again (vet dx viral flare up w/ secondary bacterial a month ago). I just don't want to stress her out by taking her until she gets a little more time in non-diabetes land. Any thoughts on how long to wait?

Re: Kitten 3/14 +90 BG 36

Is she an inside/outside kitty? That would sway me one way or other on the vaccinations...
The dental I'd play by ear. If you see problems with eating, it could turn into an infection or pain which will show up in his BG numbers. I'm thinking like you are, the less chance of messing up her apparent race towards the finish line here, the better. Just keep a close eye on all the issues and react quickly if you see something going bad.

Carl

Re: Kitten 3/14 +90 BG 36

I agree w/ Carl. I'll also add that if her breath is really bad, that might be an indication of a dental issue. You can delay for a short while, but I wouldn't wait too long. If no major breath issues, other than TUNA breath, I'd say "Enjoy the ride!"

Her numbers are amazing! I can't tell you how exciting it is for us to watch her successes as you report them! You must be elated! I think it's safe to say that we ALL are in the cheering section!

Go Kitten!!! bcatrun_gif

Re: Kitten 3/14 +90 BG 36

Yes, her teeth/breath are really bad, yellow tartar and irritated gums, never thought a cat needed a cleaning but the vet pointed it out to me... No infection, but it needs to be done. And she is an in/out kitty, but only in the yard with a 6 foot fence and I keep an eye on her-torn on this one because you never know if someone else might jump the fence. I don't think anything is pressing right now, so I can wait. Anyone have an opinion on timing a visit, I'm thinking of giving her at least 2 weeks.

Re: Kitten 3/14 +97 BG 55

yes, we are over the moon here...wasn't expecting to be at this point, seems like the last few weeks didn't even happen. I just wish I could send Mr. P out to everyone else too.

Re: Kitten 3/14 +97 BG 55

I would maybe plan a vet visit at least 2 weeks after OTJ maybe even a month. No sooner.
The thing about the teeth is the bacteria which you can't see. The bacteria goes though the blood & can cause high BG. But just because she goes OTJ doesn't mean she doesn't have a lot of bacteria on her teeth & in her gums. Just watch her. The shots can wait in my opinion. Baxter is going on almost 2 yrs without his shots. My vet wouldnt give him shots. He said we needed to wait. When he goes outside I always watch him. Because there is a neighbor down the street who we call cat house. They have 4 outside cats that are free to roam all yards. I don't know what those cats have...I am scared to know. So I don't want them to come over here & give Baxter their nastiness. At times I have been tempted to leave some food out with lots of Miralax in it...but really I couldn't ever do that. I love all animals (except snakes) to much.

I am so happy for you & Kitten. I know its a very exciting feeling to be where you are right now. :YMHUG:

Re: Kitten 3/15 Day 5 +109.75 BG 55

So Ms. Kitten's still going. Mr. Hobie is unfortunately not going, well except for last night when the remainder of the enema somehow ended up in DH's favorite pair of shoes.....he's got some dulcolax now, vet recommended it and all the mirilax I saw was powder and he won't eat food that's been tampered with. Small softgel tablet, and he's easy to pill so hopefully it'll work just as well, it's in at least. Vet said if he didn't produce by morning to take him back for another xray, enema, then colonic lavage under anesthesia if that didn't work. He's eating and drinking, and the rest of the poo dam was further back in his system....and I have to go to work soon. Hoping something happens, don't want to take him in again yet, but don't want to leave him home by his self either. As my mom always said, if it's not one thing, it's another.

Re: Kitten 3/15 Day 5 +109.75 BG 55

I hope Mr.Hobie is feeling better. Give it a little time to work. I know ECID, but when it happen to Baxter he had some still way up in there that the vet couldn't reach. It was about 24 hrs after the vet visit before it came out.

Go Ms. Kitten Go! flip_cat
