Sudden food changes may cause GI upsets. Since she is accustomed to dry and you have to get her to eat, you might try gradually mixing in Evo Cat and Kitten dry, replacing about 20-25% of the food each day, until completely switched. If is 1 on the only low carb dry foods out there. The other one is Young Again 0 Carb (internet orders only) and is pricey, though they supposedly eat less on it. Once you get her switched to the Evo, you can gradually switch to low carb, over the counter canned. If you are already giving insulin, you need to be home testing the blood glucose with an inexpensive human glucometer to monitor for safety. A diet change may reduce the blood glucose 100_180 mg/dL and drop the insulin by 2 units.

Next, what insulin are you using and what dose? Humulin/Novolin and Vetsulin/Caninsulin generally do not last long enough in the cat to go 12 hours between shots. BCP PZI, ProZinc, Lantus, and Levemir generally do last long enough to shoot ever 12 hours a.d possibly get to a diet controlled state.

Pop over to Cat Info for a list of over the counter low carb (<10% calories from carbohydrates) foods manufactured in the US to see what choices you may have for the picky cat.

Some cats get GI upsets from food allergies, so when you notice her refusing food, gagging, vomiting, or having diarrhea, track it. You may discover the culprit that way.

Three units is a bit high if you're switching over to low carb foods, so its really, really important to be home testing the glucose for Kitkat's safety. In case of emergency, you should have on hand some Karo or orther syrup, high carb food (most gravy lovers types), and an oral syringe, plus directions to the nearest 24 hour emergency vet services.

Glucose levels at the vet can be from 100 to 180 mg/dL elevated over normal home levels.

Do food changes gradually to avoid GI problems or food refusal.

Has she eaten anything since coming home? Gotten any tests in?

I hope she is feeling better!

If she likes the Fancy Feast Grilled, then feed that to her for now. Gradually, you could start mixing a tiny bit, maybe a teaspoon of the lower carb Fancy Feast into her food and see how she does eating that. Over time, you should be able to switch her from the higher carb Grilled style food to the lower carb Pate style food.
