Kitchen scale for tracking food

Does anyone use a kitchen scale to track food eaten? Weigh plate before and then once done? I'm having a hard time eyeballing plates now that he's not cleaning them.

Also, if so, got recommendations for good ones? You guys are the best at recommending the best products for our kitties.

I use a cheap one from walmart. I also have the weights of his empty dishes written down so if I forget to tare the scale before putting food in his dish I can calculate how much is in there.
