Abbott labs does market the precision XL under a different name in some countries, but the guidelines would be the same.Ketones in the mild range would prbably warrent careful monitering and like someone else said trying to improve fluid intake. If she has taken away the dry food that should help. 1.5 to 3.0 would be a moderate elevation according to the manual.Over 3.0 is an emergency level and the Abbott web site suggests a person call 911 or have someone take them to an ER.In a kitty case it would be an emergency vet. Over 3.0 is when ketones build up enough to alter the ph and then DKA begins.
If the ketones are below 1.5 she is probably OK continuing to moniter. Just be sure she read the meter right and the ketone level is point four,4 and not four point zero 4.0 ! In this case the decimal point could make a big difference!
