Are you testing with Ketostix (urine sample) or using a blood ketones meter?

Blood keto meter. It measured 1.1 this morning.

It has dropped to 0.2 tonight.

I would contact the vet and ask what you should do about the ketones. I have no experience with ketones but members who do will be along to provide advice.

Can you also test the urine for ketones? Pharmacies sell ketone test strips for Human diabetics. Try to stick a test strip directly into the stream of urine. Or hold a cup or deep soup ladle under the cat to collect the urine and pour the urine onto the test strip.

Those are normal range numbers. You may want to look at the manual for your meter. Also, has your vet ever run labs that included ketone levels? If so, the normal range will be on the lab report.

The manual did not have anything and my vet did not run labs for ketones.

What meter? My Precision Xtra meter manual does not say anything. My Keto-Mojo manual say below 0.6 is normal, 0.6-1.5 is may require medical assistance, >1.5 Risk of DKA call your diabetic healthcare team.

When I first posted he had 1.1 and I was concerned. The next 2 checks were below 0.6 so they were fine
