Ketones on blood meter

Please help. My boyfriend forgot to give Gizmo his insulin this morning and to be safe I used my blood ketone meter to check him and hes at .7. I just did a urine test 2 days ago and it was negative. Hes acting normal and I just gave him his afternoon meal with some extra water in it and hes wolfing it down. I dont have the money for an emergency vet and I'm panicking.

Hes acting normal, hes been napping by me all morning but not lethargic, the moment I got up to give him food he was bolting for the bowls. I'm terrified.

Very low don't worry. My cat often tests at 0.6-0.8. Just put extra water in the food... Make sure he's eating, and give the next insulin dose.

I found a chart (and of course my phone wont let me link) where it said anything .6-1.5 I should test frequently....what is frequently? Every 5 mins? 15? Hour?

He did finish his food and part of his sisters so his appetite seems just fine.

And then he went and hid in his cardboard castle which scared me and he fought me pulling him out of it but is now calmly sitting next to me purring while I brush him, so all completely normal for him

You don't need to worry about that number. As Carol said, with cat's blood using a human ketone meter, ketones start to show at 2.4 -2.5 .

You can take the 911 down now.

If you’re worried you could take a before bed reading.
