Ketone strips

So does anyone else use the urine strips for the testing and have you ever gotten a grey reading? Electra is acting normal, eating, drinking a lot as usual, alert and active and I just did two ear pokes and her right ear gave me 67 on human meter, and left ear was 64. She used litter box immediately after, and is now scarfing down some pate. I used two strips and both turned grey, which has never happened before. When I did a quick google search the first thing I found indicated the strips might have gone bad? I thought that maybe I didn't clean the collection cup well enough after last test (and therefore everything collected was contaminated). I always shut the container, but they are kept in basement and we have had a warm snap with a lot of humidity this week/end. Nothing about her looks like DKA, but it is freaking me out a little and she is just giving me dirty looks about poking her extra. (she finished eating, gave me a dirty look and then ran out of my room as fast as her tiny little paws could go)

Will test in AM to see if I get something different from a different collection container, but I don't think our strips are expired. Does any of that make sense to anyone?

Hi. Just an idea, you could always try a strip yourself. If you get the same colour as Electra, you’ll know the strips are bad
I can try that; I did test her again this morning, used a disposable paper cup and two test strips and both were negative, no grey or moving toward positive test results. I am hoping that means the plastic re-usable cup was just not washed enough. I did order new strips though.
