Keto/glucose strips online purchase

Hi everyone!

I really need to test Jax for ketones but believe it or not I cannot find a pharm that has any in stock. I tried two local places and the pharmacist walked from behind the counter only to tell me he didn't see any on the shelves either. :roll:

can anyone suggest a online retailer with a decent price. I don't have the time at all to run from store to store. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, can anyone explain exactly how they test their sugar baby and what I need to know about the result of the test. What am I looking to see on the strip exactly? I highly doubt if Jax will let me hold anything under his rear while he's going so that probably isn't an option.

I haven't used urine glucose strips-only ketones. You get them wet w/ fresh urine, wait 15 secomds, and compare the color on the vial. The er vet told.me not to worry about trace ketones unless I get them a couple tests in a row, but anything higher is a vet trip. (note Cass had dka)

If you don't think you.can catch.mid-stream (surprisingly, Cass doesn't mind; I just don't catch him.that often) you can try covering the litter w/ plastic to get.puddles, use non absorbing litter, or aquarium gravel. The fresher the better. I have a breeze litter box so I get a test when I change.the pee pad.

You should be.able to.buy them amywhere you can get testing supplies. I test a couple times a week or when he's running high.

I get Ketostix from American Diabetes Wholesale. Asher lets me put it in the stream. Thank goodness.
They are about the same price or a little less there than in the store. I just order them when I order syringes or other supplies.
We test about once a week and the bottle of strips lasts pretty long.
