Ever since my cat, Bangkok, was diagnosed with diabetes on July 8, I've tested his urine regularly with keto diastix test strips. He is very easy to collect urine from, when he squats, and he doesn't mind me putting a small styrofoam cup underneath him.

All the test results are pretty much the same: ketones are negative and glucose is positive (ranging from 1/2 % to 2 %). The results were the same before he began receiving insulin and now that he is receiving insulin.

What kind of results have you all gotten on your keto diastix tests? When your kitties went on remission or had a honeymoon period, did the glucose show up as green?

When blood sugar is above 160-240 or so some glucose will spill into the urine. This it appears that Bangkok's BG is above that value/range. Since the urine reading a an average you do not know how high or low the BG is.
With only using a urine test you always want some glucose to show in the urine to help prevent BG from going to low.
Blood testing at home is the way to g.

Blood glucose testing is the gold standard for monitoring and managing diabetes.
That said, measuring water drunk, urination (volume and frequency), dehydration, and urine ketones and glucose provide some clues on how well regulated a diabetic may be. Older management protocols use these kinds of 'soft' signs in addition to vet testing to manage the condition.
See my signature link Secondary Monitoring Tools for descriptions of assessments you may find helpful, plus a link to a spreadsheet grid for tracking some of them.
