My sweet girl has lost her battle with all the disease processes she was coping with. She did not have diabetes, but she had cardiomyopathy, and CKD, and Hyperesthesia, and a cancerous tumor on her back that was almost ready to bust open.
I was giving her fluids daily, but she totally stopped eating, and I could not even force feed food into her. She had an abscessed tooth removed on Dec. 7, 2012, but she started going downhill with weight loss and the kidneys were just wearing out on her. She also had Interstitial Cystitis.
She was my most precious sweet tortie, born in my bathroom on August 1, 1995, and she had a good long life, as an indoor only cat. She really did not want to leave me, but her quality of life was really suffering, and I believe in doing the best we can for our dear furbabies, but not letting them suffer for our sakes. I will so miss her sleeping with me every night. I just hope and pray that one day, I will be with all of my furbabies I have lost in the past.
When my husband died in 2005, I had 12 cats, and am now down to 2. Except I am fostering my son's cat, although I am sure I will end up keeping him. I sometimes envy my husband not being here to go through the total sadness of losing these sweet furbabies that meant so much to him and to me and my son. At least my son came over this evening while the vet put Ketchie out of her misery. Fly free, my sweet tortie girl!!!
Hugs to everyone, and never take your babies for granted. They are here for such a short time with us.
