What the heck do I do? Just keep boosting insulin. He does eat Fancy Feast pate most of the time. Not on a feeding schedule as we have two non diabetic cats in the house. But these numbers freak me out. Is it possible to be insulin resistant?

@rongarden ....first, your spreadsheet isn't visible to us....You need to change the permissions so we can see it. Go to the top right corner where it says "Share". Click there and a new box pops up....at the bottom right it will say "Advanced"....click there and then choose "Anyone with the link" and "Done"

Next, it will really help if you'll add some more information to your signature line, like what insulin you're using, what type of meter, when your kitty was diagnosed (would be nice to have your kitty's name too!) type of food and any other health issues he may have (if you look at other posts, you'll see some examples of the info in our subject lines) That way we don't have to keep asking the same questions over and over again

As for feeding, most of us have a mix of diabetic and non-diabetic cats!! To make sure our sugarcats are only eating low carb, we just switch everyone over! Friskies pates are a low carb canned that aren't expensive to feed multiple cats. I have 2 civvies too and all my cats used to graze on kibble. When China was diagnosed, everyone was switched over to low carb canned and they DID get used to "eating on a schedule" fairly easily. My civvies get fed 4 times a day (and then sneak snacks of leftover food in China's bowl) and they're happy!....and healthier than they've been in years!!

One of, the most important part of care for a diabetic is regimentation. Feeding the same amount at the same time and delivery of insulin at the same time. You can vary by about 30 minutes prior or after the appointed time. Small, more frequent feedings can make a difference as well. Have you tried Fancy Feast? That may work better than Friskies. Also...use the pate only. Sliced, filled, shredded takes longer to digest and can throw the insulin response way off. This is all trial and error. Good luck from Jane and Stewey

We need to see your spreadsheet before we can help. Follow the advice given by @Chris & China, and you'll be on your way. It's possible that you may already be giving too much insulin, but until we have more info, there's no way to know. And, depending on the insulin you're using, an increased dose may need a few cycles to settle in. Patience is very important, here! For most of us, improvement doesn't happen overnight. Fancy Feast pates are a good choice, so kudos on that, but many others have success with Friskies pates, especially when feeding multiple kitties (cost effective). But you do need to make sure you're pulling his food at least 2 hours before pre-shot time. That's the only way to get a reading that's not affected by food, thus insuring a proper dose of insulin. Your other kitties will adjust to the sugar baby's feeding schedule and they'll be fine with it. As for insulin resistance... I've read that some cats do have that happen, but I'm thinking your situation may just be that a little more time and patience is needed. I know... it's hard... I've been through it, too. Hannah was diagnosed in May of 2014 and we're still here, trying to be patient. Best wishes.:cat:
