Our highest amps since early July. :sad: I have been using this pen of lantus for almost exactly 3 months-- I wonder if it is the Lantus pooping out? I fattened up her dose a bit from .25 to .35. Will see if that does anything.

Hi Amanda

could you refresh Kazi's feeding schedule for us?
Do you know if she has something to eat around +9 before AMPS and PMPS?

She's seeing some nice numbers there, not sure if insulin is pooped, 3 months is a long time - but I know pens can be different.
Often times the AMPS is the longest to lower.
I'm just wondering what her feed schedule is like.

But let's see what others can suggest or observe on spreadsheet.

3 months? Well, that is an excellent thought. Not sure how long people have gotten out of it.
Maybe other Lantus users will post their thoughts....
maybe the increase will do something....good luck and hope you have a nice day!

Her feeding schedule is 3/4 of a 5.5oz can in the morning, and again at night. Test, feed, shoot. She sleeps with me at night- so no chance she got into any food. Her +3 is a little higher than her AMPS- usually she is at least a bit lower. :?

Is that meal spread out by any chance? Or just breakfast and dinner?

Just breakfast & dinner. If I think she might drop too low while I am at work I have my sister feed her about a TBS at +4. That will change when she goes back to school though. Have thought about timed feeders, but we have another cat and 3 dogs...keeping everyone else out of her food and knowing that she ate would be difficult.

Does Kazi still get Special Kitty Mixed Grilled 4% (as per signature)

Have you tried the frozen wet food pucks?
Does the other kitty eat wet food too?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm yappy today aren't I? :lol:

Yes, Kazi is still on the special kitty mixed grill---- seems to be the only thing she really likes! Salem our other cat gets her leftover 1/4 a can plus a bit of dry- same feeding schedule and I pick up their breakfast/dinner at the same time to make sure she doesn't get any dry.

I haven't tried the frozen food-- worried the other animals would get to it. Haven't quite devised a way to let her have a snack and know SHE ate it without keeping her confined all day when my sister isn't home. Currently she pops her in the bathroom for 10 minutes to eat her snack and then lets her back out. Most days she doesn't need a snack...only when I am concerned she might dip low with nobody to check her BG.

Something that just occured to me.... I started putting omegaderm in Salem's bit of the food yesterday... Kazi decided she wanted a few bites while her sister was eating. This is only at breakfast (breakfast for Salem is just a bit of Kazi's leftovers--- no dry.) Omegaderm is just a mix of fatty acids and such, I doubt that it is the cause but that is the only thing different I can think of.

I just found a pharmacy that will sell me 1 pen. Going to go ahead and pick one up, I can afford to do $45 a lot more easily than $225! I did a little happy dance just now. :lol:

What's the Omegaderm for? I've never heard of it.
Maybe someone else here has.
 
Annnd a nice normal PMPS. I think she is toying with me. Will be spot checking throughout the night as her PM dose was from a fresh pen.
