I am so sorry, Karrie. I know you must be heartbroken to lose your dear Nike--it is obvious how much you cared for her and that you did everything in your power to help her be well and happy for as long as possible. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry. You and Nike have fought so hard. It's a time for you both to rest. Nike will be reunited with Maverick and all of our GA companions. It is a last kindness that you are giving Nike.

Breaking Hearts here, so so sorry for you Karrie...But you cant allow someone you love to be in pain, so you are doing the righteous thing for the fur baby you love--We all know Maverick is waiting for him at the Bridge.. I am so sorry that you must go through this, but we are all grieving with you..

(((Dearest Karrie)))....my heart also aches for you...to lose your Nike at this time when I know you are also thinking about Maverick. But you are doing the absolute greatest and most selfless thing and showing her
your love the best way you can by letting her go where she will be pain free again and she will see Maverick.

(((((((((((Thank you)))))))))))) Today was the hardest day of my life. Maverick took his crossing out of my hands but Nike did need me. I have peace that she is free and I had 19 amazing months with her after her congestive heart failure diagnosis. I work from home so I got to spend a lot more time with her. Patrick was with me and he's having a hard time today. I would trade most humans in my life to get her back. I am blessed to have had her love me and be in my life. I know she is with me in spirit.

Thank you for posting this condo Claudia and for being there for me.

Here is a video of Nike - it was taken 9 months after her diagnosis of severe heart disease. Can you tell her heart was bad? She was like this up until the vestibular attack last week. No matter how long she was with me, it never would be long enough. But her time with me up until this past week she seemed well and happy.

You have to watch this with your head tilted to the right.

Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart for the hugs, prayers, vines, snowflakes and loving condolences. It means the world to me. . I will share them with Patrick also. She was a daddy's girl.

Karrie, I'm so sorry. I know far too well how hard that final decision can be and how different the house feels afterward. These first days are the worst, but hopefully in the not-to-distant future you'll be able to think of her with smiles rather than tears and watch that wonderful video and feel her spirit and spunk once again.

I too have a dog with heart problems -- different than Nike's, but serious and worrisome nonetheless, so I can relate to what you've been through. For Nike to have been so active to the end is a blessing.

You gave her the last great gift and I know she trusted you fully to help her along in her journey. My thoughts are with you...

What an adorable puppy. Nike looks like a little fluffy bear. And it was so cute to hear her answer you too. I'm so sorry that you and Patrick are having to go through this right now. Big hugs for you guys and lots of luv.

i'm here always whenever you need to cry, laugh, vent, anything....you know my number

thanks for sharing Nike with us....she had that spark...and not a worry in the world!

this I'll say Karrie......

when we join support groups to get information in order to help our furbabies...we do it out of love, commitment and dedication for them....it is that unconditional love they give us transferred back to them as we love them unconditionally (which we sometimes don't share that with other humans)....they teach us lessons we sometimes fail to see them or understand them...

I believe...and i could be wrong....but it is because we love them so much equally the same we ought to grieve their parting for if we didn't feel anything when they leave us then all that unconditional love they gave us and the time they spent with us would have been in vain

it is ok to feel lost, to feel numb.....for that tells you how much you truly loved your furbabies....it is ok

allow yourself to go thru the emotions...don't deny yourself of any of the pain and sorrow for if you do then you would deny what both your furkids were here to do....they picked you for a reason...they knew you would give them the safe loving home no one else could have....

you have been through so much this year and like others who have lost their furbabies...my prayers are with you as you try to make sense of it all but i hope in time you are able to look back at the many memories of both your furbabies....

Oh Karrie...Ottawa is too far for me and I so wish I could give you a real hug so sending you lots of cyber hugs...

I believe both your furkids have been reunited and will wait for you at the bridge...until then.....
 
Dear Karrie and Patrick,
We are lighting our candle tonight for your girl. It is so hard to let them go, but it is the most loving thing you can do--the ultimate gift of love. Nike was so lucky to have you as her beans. I know she is being met at the bridge by Maverick and all of our GAs and that she will dwell in your hearts until you meet again.

Karrie, I'm so glad you have that wonderful video of Nike to remember her. I love that she would answer you back when you said "Do you love me?" I have lit a candle for her tonight. I hope you will find some peace knowing how much quality of life you gave her after her initial diagnosis. What a testament to the unconditional love you shared. Prayers and healing thoughts to you and Patrick.

I am so sorry that you lost your Nike. That was such a sweet video and I'm sure you will treasure it. I am holding you close to my heart and sending you all the comforting and strength vines I can muster. Nike was lucky to have you and Patrick as her parents. I'm glad you and Patrick were there to help her cross where she was meet by Maverick, Sara and all our other beloved GA's. She was never alone.

My sympathy goes out to you and Patrick.
