Greetings, Lantus Land!
Here we are again, another week having flown by since Karre's 8th September Condo, and once again there are some great LL Highlights to report on - well done, Lantus Landers! It is my pleasure as Jane the Lowly Minion - or Janie Jane, as I was recently named - to do our Emperor's bidding and present to you a few choice condos for your particular perusal.
First off, an M.I.A. shout-out to Denise/Shakespeare. If anyone's seen them, please check in here and let us know, we're a bit worried since the last we heard from them was in their 28th August Condo.
Next, Lisa/Leo created a wonderful summary of the lessons they learned from the cycles they rode out in spite of lots and lots of drama (we LOVE the drama, don't we, guys!), and posted their Summary Condo for the benefit of all LL'ers. Thanks, Lisa! It's great to be able to read through something likes this - there are a few cat-and-bean teams contending with rapid-succession dosecreases and the effects thereof - Ashley/Sushi among them, as seen in their 13th September Condo - and being able to look back on example situations like yours is wonderful.
Alexa/Reuben, too, went through more exciting cycles, and prompted a lively discussion of FD treatment and the need for flexibility and interpretive scope when trying to roll with the sugary punches, so to speak - check out their 10th September Condo to consider the points made and your own perspective on them. How well do *you* roll with the punches? Reuben seems to have overcome his LB issues, but is battling recurring pancreatitis symptoms and still isn't cuddling the way he used to - we wish you luck finding the magic bupe dose/regimen and hope that Reuben will soon be a total velcro kitty again! Good luck with that nasty flea problem too!!
Carla/Furball did us all a great service by asking after carbs percentages in fuds in their 9th September Condo, reminding us to be aware of ECID, no matter how often we hear or read that mantra, because it's crucial when attempting that flexibility mentioned above, in dealing with the curve balls FD can throw us as beans and specifically as FD-caregivers.
Amy/Trixie posted a lovely condo asking about the stories behind our darling cats' names, and it is an absolute delight to read! Thank you, Amy, for posting the LL Cat Names and their Stories Condo.
Another great laugh is Dale/Max's condo on How to Know You Have Been Thoroughly Assimilated into LL. Thanks for the giggles, Dale - we loved this! It's wonderful to be reminded that it's just as important to laugh about the craziness of TR as it is to try and stick to it! And Thank You, dearest Borg Queen - your version of "How To Know..." was my absolute favourite
Also, Carolyn of CD/Big Mac is recovering well from her surgery, as you can read in the lovely Update Condo posted by Carolyn's daughter Lynn. Thank you, Lynn! And keep getting better, Carolyn! HIP HIP Hooray indeed!
And in other news (again, please forgive me if I have not named you personally, and remember I try to rotate as best I can so you're sure to end up in the LL Highlights or the Overview one day soon): Tara/Buster are going for their next dosecrease which will hopefully bring the desired blues and greens - fingers and paws are crossed, guys! Deborah/Shasta are searching for a suitable 10/11% carb food - suggestions are welcome in their condo for those of you who missed it - oh, and Shasta could use some pointers as to what else, other than *litter,* she can use to give herself facials  Shasta is showing some very promising blues and greens - Yay! Lisa/Leo are struggling with Leo's recurring diarrhoea (and Lisa offered up a delightfully colourful expression describing the olfactory effects thereof - not a laughing matter, but still, thanks for the giggle, Lisa!) - Leo may have EPI, so we wish you both a quick diagnosis of whatever is going on, and we also hope that your weekend travels go well. Shannan/Jean Luc got their first splendidly green pre-shot, stalling at first to see if JL would rise, but then decided to skip, reminding us that it really is better to be safe than sorry especially when one is faced with one's FIRST green pre-shot and has no back-up helpers, which thankfully does not happen often here in LL - many congratulations for Shannan's and JL's great progress!! Roni/Moonie are facing a possible Hyper-t DX for Moonie, who also had some appy issues (which seemsed to resolve with some magical LL vines, thank heavens) - and Roni, who's been having migraines, poor dear, has a fair this Sunday for which we wish her luck! Michelle/Mannie delved into the finer points of feline culinary persuasion, when Michelle's DGS Nicholas tried to offer oatmeal and blueberries to Mannie and, when neither elicited enthusiasm, switched to hugs and nanners: Excellent judgement with none other than LL's head of the kitchen krew in the end there, Nicholas, and in one so young and adorable! Deb/Yahtzee are polishing those BOS: there were a couple of "shooting a dropping numbers" events and some beautiful greens, very well done, you guys!! Kathy/Cleo have popped back into LL and are trying a decrease - we wish them the best of luck with that and want to emphasize what a great job Kathy's been doing managing Cleo's numbers, especially that surprise dip into the low 40s, a situation which also reminded us all that it's important not only to stay on top of low dips by feeding HC when needed, but then also to allow HC to actually kick in and do its job before reloading. Dale/Max considered starting their OTJ trial, but Max's surprise AM number prompted reconsideration - another good lesson: We here in LL TR like to advocate giving insulin as long as the kitty will tolerate it, to make for the strongest possible remission - You're almost there, Dale, and we can't wait to count those trial days with you until we all PARTY together!! Jill/Charlie are struggling somewhat with how different a cat can seem when the FD-treatment hasn't hit its ideal rhythm yet and when there are other health factors complicating matters - Jill, it's great to reach out the way you did, and we'll be here for support as you find your way towards steadier and steadier progress! Don't lose hope, ok - and (This Just In) CONGRATS on your dosecrease, you did a GREAT job!!
Chris/Tucker checked in from the Falls with a happy Hello - great to see you fellas! Shai/Pirate Fitz had a food trial which started off beautifully, and after a little detour, they're now ready to try again: Good luck, you guys! Pat/Raja/Shadow divided and hopefully conquered when Pat went on a trip to NY and entrusted the kitties to the pet sitter - we hope everything went well. Devon/Peter/Mocha celebrated Mocha Jo Latte's 9th birthday and a year and a half of OTJ after a spectacular, two-year sugardance - congrats on both counts to all three of you!! Donna/Doogle went for a dosecrease to get some better numbers - many vines are being sent for progress to be reported, and we were very glad to hear Donna's mum is recovering well and was able to be moved out of the SICU and into a room - vines are underway for a continuing recovery! Anne/Liz/Zener welcomed Anne back from her trip, we're glad tyo have you back with us, Anne, and thanks, Liz, for a great job holding down the fort with Zener! Wendy/Tiggy have re-started Bailey on insulin again with a very special "TR microdose protocol" - love the name, Wendy, and we wish you the very best of luck with Bailey's treatment - hopefully, he won't throw a surprise 16 at you this time around!! Ann/Maggie and Melissa/Tarragon are battling the beginning of cold and flu season - get well vines extra strength underway to you, ladies! Pip/Rupert are battling the bounciness Rupert exhibits despite Pip's brave efforts to curb it, and Pip could use some extra supportive vines to help with the understandable frustration - hang in there, you guys, and have a great time at your horse show; I'm sure Noelle will do a great job with the skinny 2u pet-sitting dose! Libby/Doug/Hershey reached their 3-month mark on Levemir (and 8 month mark on insulin) and while thing aren't perfect quite yet, Hershey has shown some wonderful progress - we are absolutely thrilled for you guys! Lyresa/KT have had some superb greens - well done and woohoo! Georgia/Simon demonstrated with panache how cats will often respond to even the *threat* of an increase wil gorgeous numbers - Simon showed a lovely green PMPS just as Georgia was considering Sienne's suggestion of throwing the fat back on his dose  Way to go, Simon! Keep it up, EVERYONE!
And now for some WCRs from our African Pride! Marje and Gracie with their new, snappy username posted a great reminder of how important WCRs and Spreadsheets are to all those of us who like to lend a helping hand (read: an advising mind), so far be it from me to be remiss in complying with the Borg Queens' commands! Resistance is, after all, futile  Onwards, then: His Majesty Karre the Emperor of Basically Everything is in excellent health, presenting all 5 P's daily and expressing - thank heavens - his satisfaction with his minions' services. While he does keep on throwing us numbers above 120 (but below 150), his pancreas brings him back down every time, so we are overall very happy with his OTJ exploits. (If any of you see cause for concern on his SS, do point it out to us.) Queen Magpie is doing a wonderful job of making sure His Royal Highness stays happy - she naps next to him daily, cleans him, cuddles with him, and hisses at Luca and Henry when they try to bug him during down-time. The Boys, Henry and Luca, continue to expand their tree-climbing prowess, as will become evident when it's picture time, below. Luca is, of course, already thoroughly used to living the good life - the life of Riley, wasn't it, Jill? - but Henry still has these incredible moments of sheer joy upon realizing that this really, really, really is his life now. Today he had another, while on a cat walk with us: Suddenly, from sitting quietly on the lawn, he jumped up, looked up at the sky and around at the trees, and raced in these enormous, joyful leaps back and forth in circles across the upper lawn. I feel supremely blessed to have witnessed his moment of purest happiness at being alive, healthy, safe, and loved, and I find myself resolving once again to take more moments like that for myself also. So there you have it - we all, it seems, are counting our blessings, and we all are happy and glad to be able to keep being a part of LL.
The WBRs are good, as well. Jack is crazy busy. I am crazy busy. And to make sure I have to rest and put my foot up now and then, I went outside barefoot and stepped on what most likely was a little scorpion. I have an interestingly purple toe now, and some pain, but otherwise, it will just serve to remind me that when I don't take time to stop and breathe and rest, life will happen and ensure that for me  It's my own fault - I should have worn shoes! Hope the little fellow is ok - I never saw him, and I bet he's glad not to see me again, either  Can't blame him, really. Otherwise, things are good (albeit crazy busy). No rest for the wicked, and whatnot!
And now, enough talk - it's picture time! I have for your viewing pleasure an assortment of impressions from the past week. A couple of wild irises from the garden - there you go, Carl! Did you get the primroses yet? - and some other flowers from around the house, and from the World of Birds, where I like to go when I have time in between things to do for work and so on. It's a very inspiring place for me - all the colours and sounds and wonderful creatures are simply incredible to be around, and I love being there when I need a bit of a push in a writing project. The marmosets have tiny babies - you can see one darling playing peek-a-boo from behind his mum's head! And, well - the rest, just see for yourself! (Gold stars for those of you who can identify that bird... Famous, but not often easily recognized, I suspect!)
I hope you enjoy the Caturday Condo, as always! DO check in with your own WCRs and WBRs when you can, or just to hang out, or to vent, or to post your own weekly impressions of whatever made you stop and think how beautiful things can be. We think of you all!
Hugs,
Jane

Wow.
How many of you know this bird?
