He is going to his new vet tomorrow for a new fructosamine test, just wanted to let you guys see where he is at the 1 1/2 unit per day, will update tomorrow afternoon after vet visit.
I appreciate all thoughts and advise on this. I think the vet will up his dose. We will see.
Thanks

It looks like the only time you've skipped a shot is when you got the 143 this morning, right?

Overall, it looks like "more insulin" might be needed just based on the numbers you've been getting. BUT - what makes me hesitate is the times you have gotten the lower numbers (yellows) at shot time. High numbers at shot time don't always mean that more insulin is needed.

If there were numbers in the middle of the cycle on the 24th, you'd have a good idea whether this dose is working well, or not. On that day, Loki had nice numbers for both shot tests. The numbers that followed that day could have been due to a low number the day before that you didn't happen to see which caused a "bounce" to higher numbers. Bounces can take a couple of days to go away. The 438 last night could also have been caused by a low number in the middle of the day based on how low Loki was at shot time yesterday morning.

It will be interesting to hear what the new vet has to say. If I were you, I would ask him about the value of both preshot tests and "mid-cycle" tests, to see what he thinks. It's important to know if he just advises dose based on the preshot numbers like many vets seem to do. Preshot tests are just a part of the puzzle, and the tests around nadir time are really important too. You have to know the low numbers to know if the dose is working or not.

Looking forward to your updates!

I agree. You have gotten some nice amps numbers which don't sound like an increase is needed. Some of your pmps numbers are high, but that might have been a bounce from a midcycle number. If he were mine, I would be nervous about an increase without more numbers.
