Hi I'm Dani. My cat Kylar was diagnosed with diabetes in September after I noticed he lost a lot of weight very quickly. Brought him to the vet and turns out my boy is diabetic.

Kylar is a DSH turning 13 this year.

I just got the Freestyle Libra put on him so I can better monitor his levels while we still figure out his dosage and I am really hoping it works!

Looking forward to learning some things from this community as well!

Hi Dani and Kylar and welcome to the forum.
That is great you are going to hometest the blood glucose. It is the best way to keep your kitty safe.
Here is a link to our SPREADSHEET
You can add all the data you collect with the link Freestyle Libre. Later you might like to manually hometest the glucose. You can buy a human meter from Walmart called a ReliOn Premier for $9 and a box of 100strips for $17.88.
When you ask for the lancets, ask for gauge 26 or 28.
You will also need some cotton rounds to hold behind the ear.

HELP US HELP YOU is a link which has information about the spreadsheet, setting up your signature (easy), hypo kit and lots more.

Can you tell us what type of insulin you are using and the dose please?
Bron

He's on Lantus brand insulin and gets a dose of 4 units. His glucose levels when we started were 30mmol/l. They've gotten down to 8mmol/l now.

I'm Canadian so I don't actually know the conversion into the measurements America uses.

To convert the numbers you multiply by 18. However, the world version of spreadsheet that Bron linked will automatically convert your numbers to US numbers on a separate tab.
