Hi, I just got back from the vets with Nolan. I took him in because his numbers have been higher lately and I was concerned he might have an infection or something. I have been having a hard time regulating him, and am still looking for the right dose. Recently though I've seen an increase in his numbers, despite upping his dose a little. I took him to the vet and they decided to run tests, she mentioned the possibility of acromegaly. I'm not sure how likely this is, but i'm just waiting on a call about the results. If anyone could take a look at his SS and let me know if this looks like what might be going on, that would be appreciated.

I think he looks pretty good. He does seem to bounce from a blue the following cycle and either have a high preshot or a flatter, little higher cycle. For instance, I am thinking the 129 last night (or maybe lower before or after) meant a higher flatter cycle today.

I know two months seems a long time to be on insulin, but it really isn't. And he is generally good ranges on a dose that isn't terribly high. I like 2.2 dose and would be patient to see if he will settle in and stop reacting to those blues.

Is there anything else you could change to try to smooth things out? How often and what does he eat?

I got a call back from the vet, and she said all of his tests came back in the normal range. I really don't know why she suggested the possibility of acromeaglay, but when I got home and started reading about it, it didnt seem likely that that was Nolan's issue. I am so happy that he is healthy. She did mention that he was slightly dehydrated so I have been adding more water to his food. Other than that everything is normal. Nolan has been on insulin since March of this year, I found the site just a few months ago and started his SS. In the beginning I was just feeding him some of the lower carb wet foods ( mostly FF classics), but some were as high as 8 &9% carb so recently I switched him to the 9 lives flaked tuna 0% carb and 9 lives Turkey and giblets 2% carbs because they are the lowest carb canned foods I have found (even lower than the FF) I have been feeding him about 5 oz. at amps and 5oz. at pmps and +6 hr am and pm snacks of about 2.5 oz. I have been wondering what other factors may be contributing? I am wondering now if maybe his prozinc has lost potency? I still have 1/4 of a bottle left so that would be very frustrating, but I am not sure what else it could be at this point?

I really think you just need to increase the dose a little. The insulin seems to be working fine - it took him from 337 to 129 in that night time cycle. That is an excellent drop, more than 50%. Food sounds good so a smidge more insulin is the next choice?
