Angela & Blackie & 3 Others

Member Since 2010
Hey, folks.

It's been about 2 months now since my Blackie (aka Lil Mama) passed away. I have her cremains sitting next to her daughter, Daisy, who passed away on January 23, 2014. I'm ok, for the most part. Work has kept me busy, which is good. On the days that I don't work, I will wonder if there was something else that I could've done to prolong her life and keep her here with us. I know that the pancreatitis is probably what sealed her fate. Unfortunately, you can't reverse that.. Only control it as best as you can. I really don't wish for any other kitty to have what she had. I only wish for all the kitties on here to live happy, successful, pain-free, and in remission lives.

I'm still stitching, which is also good. I've started a rather large project that someone had sent to me. She created a pattern from a photo of her husband who is a hunter, and who also got an elk, or something. It's definitely got horns. LOL She wants this done by October of 2016. I HOPE to get this done before then. I'm also stitching a topical Christmas stocking (that's kind of an oxymoron, isn't it? LOL) of a Santa sitting under a palm tree with a drink in his hand, and wearing shorts. There's also a pink flamingo, and the project has some buttons to stitch on (a couple of seagulls, a crab, and a couple of other things). I've also order a Cancer cross stitch pattern that has these words:

"What Cancer Cannot Do - It cannot cripple love. It cannot shatter hope. It cannot corrode faith. It cannot destroy peace. It cannot kill friendships. It cannot suppress memories. It cannot silence courage. It cannot invade the soul. It cannot steal eternal life. It cannot conquer the spirit."

I plan on stitching this for a friend of ours, who is battling cancer (explained in the next paragraph). I hope to have the time to do this.

About a couple of weeks ago, I found out a good friend of ours has either stage 3 or 4 cancer, and is awaiting treatment. She's been accepted into a facility, but I haven't heard anything about her starting any treatments at this time. I also know that one of my coworkers also has cancer, and is currently awaiting treatment. There is just too much of that going on anymore. I would appreciate prayers for them both, if you all don't mind.

Working weird hours (that's the Walmart way). I'm grateful that we do have an extra income as it really is helping. Hubby bought a new car, which resulted in my getting the job in the first place. Funny that he gets a brand new car, and I'm still stuck with an old vehicle that we're spending money on keeping on the road. It's a good truck, though, and worth the fixing... But still... LOL He DOES drive further than I do, though, which is the reason why he gets a fuel efficient car. We still need a truck in the family, and I only drive 42 miles return each day I work. I definitely wouldn't want to drive 90 miles/day, though.

This 4th, and since I'm off, hubby and I will be spending the day just doing errands. It's not often that I can get a weekend day off, and he's already got the car scheduled for a maintenance check. He wanted to spend it doing something like going to a nature place and walk around looking for birds, etc., but couldn't get out of the appointment. Personally, I didn't feel like walking around if I could help it anyway. LOL I do that enough at work. Anyway, we'll be coming back close to home to do some sneaker shopping, probably grab a movie (I'd like to see Jurassic World), and then grab dinner at a Tex-Mex restaurant close by. Then, head home since I do need to work the next day (Sunday). When there's fireworks, we never go anywhere anyway due to the fact that there are people around here who don't care if someone else's property goes up in flames or not. I'd rather be home to take care of any problems that may arise, thank you very much.

Well, that's about it for now. If I don't check back in here beforehand, please have a very wonderful, and safe 4th of July weekend. God bless you all, and again, thank you all for your support and help. This really is an awesome place. :)

Thank you, BJM. I'm doing fine, and Blackie's remaining 2 babies are thriving, also. I still have Aurora, our adopted kitty, thank goodness. We have 3 now... And I've switched their food to the Merrick Grain Free Senior food. Both Tiny and Groucho (sister and brother, and Blackie's babies) are going to be 14 on July 11th. Aurora.. I'm not sure how old she is, but I KNOW she's over 7. They still prefer the Friskies wet as they don't like the Merrick wet. So, they're still getting that. I'm able to now free feed them all again. They eat the Merrick, and I can leave about just over 1/2-3/4 cup in each side of the 2 sided bowl. There's still some in the morning, so I'm guessing that the Merrick is making them fuller longer.

Angela, it's lovely to hear from you. I was thinking about you just the other day and wondering how you are doing. I'm glad to hear you are keeping busy and doing okay. Also nice to know the kitties are thriving.

Please don't be a stranger. Have a wonderful Fourth!

I'm glad things are going pretty well for you. It's so easy to second guess if we could have done more or not when we lose one of our furbabies. I've learned I can drive myself crazy doing that. It's best to focus on the good memories of the times we had with them and know we loved them and did the best we could with what we knew at the time. I'm glad your other furbabies are doing well. Enjoy your weekend off.

:bighug::bighug::bighug: It's good to hear from you, we are all just plugging along here. We're having a quiet 4th too. I agree on th idiots who don't understand the fire dangers.

Hi Angela, So nice to see a condo from you. I'm sorry so many of your friends are dealing with cancer. Sending prayers and vines their way.
Blackie, Daisy, Jr. Mint, and the other kitties are surely smiling down on you from the Bridge. Great to hear that your three civvies are doing well on their new menu.
Glad you're keeping busy and that you have time to do your stitching alongside working.
Have a fine 4th of July weekend. Stay safe with all those fireworks blasting away!
Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

That's so nice of you to give us a status report- I love the sound of your stitching projects! And I empathize with you on the fireworks- we never leave home on the 4th because Tiger is terrorized by fireworks all day and all night long thanks to my !%%&$$ neighbors who spend upwards of $10,000 on illegal stuff. :arghh:

So good to hear from you, Angela.

Lots of light to your friends/co-workers battling the beast. Stage III survivor here. I wish them the success I had.

Enjoy your kits, your weekend. I too hate the fireworks. Restrictions in my town. Mostly ignored. Such a fire danger in this drought.

It's great to hear from you and even better that you're busy with work and what sound like some lovely and caring stitching projects. I think you know in your heart you did everything possible to keep Blackie happy and healthy. We all would like our kitties to be with us forever. In a way, they are with us forever -- they give us wonderful memories.

Morning Angela :coffee::coffee::coffee:

How wonderful to gear from you! it is great that you are keeping busy with what sound like some awesome projects, good projects to benefit others. Very nice!

I kn ow too that you did all you could for Blackie. I often feel as you do about Mannie, could I have done more. I know though I did all I could for him, and that he was content. He had his ways of letting me know he was ok.

Enjoy your 4th. I hope it is quiet here too. We too are so very dry...
