Well, i'm thinking 1.5 may be the magic number...... depending on amps # will decide to start that cycle again.

Sweet dreams everyone, back on in 5 hrs

Blah....425. Overslept a little, he did NOT want his blood tested! Could've made the number slightly high. It's a 1.5 kinda day!!!

Hi Laura,
Well, it looks like 1.5 does the trick! All the way down to a pretty shade of green today. Looks like the PMPS is a reaction to that? What are you thinking on the PM dose?

Carl

Hey Carl, I did 1.5 for PM. I've decided to make my rule that 1 full cycle be the same. AM is when I'll contemplate any change. Junior is a huge pain to get blood from during amps and pmps. All he wants is to eat and I need to forcibly hold him down. Tomorrow's # will be a big decider of upping him to 2 U. I'm wondering if that will keep the numbers down longer or go to low...... I'll be gone from Wed morning til Thurs night and wonder if making a change now is not a good idea.

Lisa....looks like things are going good????

Laura

One note, his low numbers around +3-+5 are almost always while he's sleeping. Then he goes outside and plays for the next 3 hrs.... climbing fences and trees and and chasing leaves, bugs, birds and what not.

I did notice he seems to drop quicker on the PM cycles. On the dose increase.... the thing that makes me nervous is that on a cycle like today, you don't have any room to drop in the middle. The high red at PMPS was most likely some big reaction to going that low. In another thread, Lisa (and Jax) made a great observation in that she has seen kitties frequently have a cycle like Junior did today, and then the next cycle is more high and flat. Several different kitties have done this. So if you see that, don't assume it's from not enough insulin. Here's a link for you to read about it.... It is towards the bottom of the thread.

This is what I responded in her post.... anyone else to chime in for them to her link? (click above)

Hey Holly and Josie.....Laura and Junior here! Here's what i'm kinda thinking, the whole "go low, go slow" thing. Are we changing things up too quickly, even at miniscule amounts? I'm now thinking I have not given Junior's body ample time to adjust to one dose even if he goes a little high. I'm going to keep Junior at his 1.5 for a full 7 days and see what happens. I'm only going to change it if he goes too low.

What does everyone think???????

Laura,
I think staying at 1.5 for now is a good idea. You can see how low Junior can go from that dose, so it is definitely is something to keep an eye on when you have a chance to check around nadir time. If he goes any lower in the middle, you might even need to back down to 1.25 or so. What we hope is that he'll get used to the low numbers and not react with high bounces every time. Then his PS numbers will come down to pinks or yellows and the nadirs might be blues. That is easier on his system than starting red, dropping to green, and flying back up to red again.
