Yeah, she's been between 90-105 at 6 hours before, so I was thinking if she could just stay at 100 until 6+ she'd be OK. I just hope she doesn't drop again.

I would keep testing until you get past her nadir and you are convinced she is on her way up. Can be every half hour or so if you are comfortable with that. Even farther apart if she comes up more.

See, you are calm and doing a great job with this!

Yep, that was my plan. I will probably test until 7+ unless it looks like she's going down (in which case I will test more frequently) of if it suddenly goes way up I will test less frequently.

Great job Holly - AND THANK YOU Donna!

Looks like you are almost out of the woods! Good thing you were right on top of it and knew to ask for help - AND you kept your head! You've done really well.

Well no worries, if she does drop some, you are prepared for that.

It’s good you caught this early, you didn’t have to feed a ton of food or use karo. Random testing is great stuff.

Keep an eye on things. Relax too!

I’ll be here hanging out. If you wanna test at quarter past or so that’s cool.

Thanks again for all your help, Donna. I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. I hope one day to be able to help a newbie like you've helped me. And thank you to everyone who has posted words of encouragement. I read your comments and appreciated you cheering me and Josie on, but I've been going a bit to crazy here to respond individually.

I will be testing again here pretty soon.

No worries Holly. It is indeed my pleasure to help any kitty and bean if I can. This is truly a great place where we support each other.
3 cheers for FDMB :-D

OK, tested again and we're at 98. So I guess we're hanging on more than increasing. But maybe that's a good thing. Do you think I should give a bit more food to make sure she doesn't decrease too much? Or do you think that'll make her numbers shoot up too much tonight? I tested right at 5.5+ hours.

So I’m not goin’ anywhere for right now. If you want to check in with tests yet until Josie hits her nadir, I’ll be here. You say the word momma :-D

Yes, I love this place! So glad I found it!

You can feed a bit more if it makes you more comfortable, again she’s holding, so if you are testing periodically I think all is well.

Oh, Donna, I don't want you to feel like you have to spend your night hanging out on my post. I probably will post my various results as I keep testing, but I would assume Josie and I will be OK. If something REALLY scary happens, I'll add the 911 to my post. Then someone around here will hopefully be able to give me some quick advice.

You mentioned about her numbers shooting up tonight. Even if you don’t overfeed, she still may go high for you tonight, overnight , or tomorrow. Her body may not be used to green numbers so she may “rebound” and go high for you. You may have gone thru this before when she has gone low on you.

That would not be your fault, there are hormones released that do this.

So, anyone out there have some dosing suggestions for Holly?
(I am not good at dosing suggestions for other kitties, our sugar kitty Asher has decided he’s not "going by the book” so what we do may not work for others)

I don’t think anything scary is gonna happen at all Holly but I’ll hang out for awhile....

Yes, I would love any dosing suggestions any one has. Lately, we having been giving Josie anywhere from 1-1.5 units BID. How much we give her is dependent on her PS. She ALWAYS goes higher after her PMPS We dose on a midnight and noon schedule, so the AMPS is midnight and the PMPS is noon. She rarely goes low in the middle of the night (after the AMPS) and has gone low after the PMPS multiple times. I thought this was because she was possibly eating more at night, but now we have her eat the same amount, before her shot, twice per day. So it's not that.

Maybe I should create another post about this later tonight/tomorrow?

Since we are on our second page, it’s prob best if you do make a new post and ask for dosing help.

edit: and since you shoot at midnight I’d ask early this evening so you get more eyes while the traffic is heavier here.

Holly, I will be around this evening and watch for your pmps and see if I can help with dosing.

Well, I really, really appreciate your offer, but I'm sure you don't want to be on here at midnight, which is when I give her next shot! :-) Her weird dosing schedule has it's drawbacks!

I am on mountain time.. Where are you?

I am nervous about giving dosing advice without seeing the number, but we'll see. I'll be around for 5 more hours?

OK, I am completely ridiculous! Why did I assume midnight for me would be midnight for you! :-) I am on Eastern. If you are here 5 more hours that would work out great. I would normally be testing her right about then! (11:30 EST). I could always test her just a bit early, if that works out better for you.

If you don't mind, then I would LOVE your help!

So right at 6+ Josie tested at 111. This makes me very happy. I am cautiously optimistic, of course, but this is the kind of number I like to see for her under normal circumstances. I really hope she hangs out around there and moves up slowly.

Well that number sounds really good Holly. I think you guys are in excellent shape. And you’ll get some dosing help later too :-D

Just test periodically until she’s past her nadir. You did a great job today Holly. I hope you feel good about it. And you probably learned some stuff too. It’s nice to get a vibe of how they react to certain foods and how long it takes.

I'm pretty happy with the number. I just hope she doesn't go way up or drop again. I plan to test her again at 6.5+ and 7+. I may spot test her after that, too. Friday night, she randomly dropped from 93 to 80 at 8+ hours. So you never know with her!

Ok Holly, I think you are doing good and in good hands for the dosing later. Message me if you need me. I'll be here but switching to the pad to go down and make some dinner. I'll check in periodically. Best to you and Josie :-D

OK, thank you for all of your help!

You both did an excellent job today. Congratulations.

If you want some help with your sliding scale I would be happy to go over it with you.
