AMPS (midnight) - 335 - 1.25 units
+6 (6am) - 280

Josie seems to be pretty flat today. I am suprised at the small drop. Yesterday's AMPS was 339, and at +6 she was at 220. I am thinking I need to maybe increase to 1.5?

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes when we give her the injections, she barely seems to notice. Other times, she cries a bit (just a small, annoyed meow). Last night was one of those nights. I am wondering why that is? I wonder if we hit something differently, which explain why she whimpered a bit AND why she's flat today? Or if it's just a coincidence?

What is happening with the antibiotic? I think it raised her numbers, right? Are you still giving it?

Yesterday was flat, but was only her 2nd cycle on 1.25 I think I would give it one more cycle before raising.

Here is some info on giving the shot. I don't know if there is anything that will help: How to give a shot

Hi Sue, thanks for your reply.

I did go ahead and give the antibiotic yesterday. What I did is change when I gave it to her. Instead of giving it to her two or three hours before her insulin, I gave it to her about an hour afterward. I started a thread on the health board, and someone suggested to me to give it to her when her insulin was just starting to work instead of of as it was wearing off. I was already thinking of doing this. So that's what I did.

I think that's what caused her to be flat yesterday. We gave her the insulin at 12:30 and the antibiotic at 1:30. The insulin didn't seem to be as effective after yesterday's PM shot. She was at 398 and normally by +3 she would be at like 250, but she was still at 320. So I think that was most likely the antibiotic. But at least her numbers didn't go crazy high like before. So I consider that an improvement. Technically, I only have one more dose left, but there is enough medicine left for probably three more doses. I have left a message with the vet (and hopefully he will call me back this time!) to see if it's OK for me to just give that one dose today and then stop.

Not really sure why she's flat this morning, though.

Thanks for the link!

Great link, Sue! I think that's where I read the part about holding the needle w/ the chiseled edge facing upward - for easiest insertion and least pain for kitty. That may be the reason for the wimper. Sue always seems to know what we need!

Glad Josie is doing well today - even if she doesn't hit exactly the numbers we were hoping for.

Yep, that link was definitely helpful. I read it and sent it on to my husband, who primarily gives the shots.

OK, just talked to the vet. No more Albon!!! She only had a little bit left and he thinks there's a good chance she's over it and that it's not worth raising her numbers. I'm taking her in tomorrow for another urine test to see if she still has the UTI. If she does, I'm asking for Baytril or Zeniquin, which people here and on the health board have recommended to me.
