Hi,

I want to say thanks so much for all the information that people are posting here. I've been creeping the boards since late December when my cat Jimmy was diagnosed. It's been a rough ride for the last few months and in all honesty, I haven't been testing at home and I worry that he's been the worse for it. December he was diagnosed and somewhat stabilized on 5units of Caninsulin, 2x a day. I am just now starting to switch him to full on wet food and starting to try to learn to home test. I have yet to get a successful test in, but I am hoping to get his ears to give a bit more blood with some of the tips that I have seen here.

My other cat, Molly, went blind due to high blood pressure and hyperthyroidism in February, I suspect partly due to moving across Canada in January. She is 'almost' at the right dose of methamazole, but remains mostly blind with very limited dark/light eyesight. Its been a challenging couple of months.

Anyway, thanks for the information, and 'hi'!

Welcome! Congratulations on grabbing the testing monster by the horns! It's the best way to get Jimmy feeling better. Ask any/all questions you have on the main health forum. We're eager to help. :)

Welcome Jody, Molly, and Jimmy!:bighug:
Glad you are deciding to start home testing, especially since you are switching to fully wet food diet. I might suggest slowing the transition until you can get some testing. Removing dry food can significantly lower their BG. If you could setup your signature, it's helpful before you head over to the Main Health Forum:http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/editing-your-signature-profile-and-preferences.130340/

Don't be overwhelmed by this Spreadsheet template but we encourage new members to use it like we do: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

And should Jimmy go into lower numbers while you are learning how to test, this is good to have ahead of time: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/how-to-treat-hypos-they-can-kill-print-this-out.15887/

Here's a member testing her sweet Peanut, he's a super good patient, don't be intimidated ;)

And another sweetheart, CC:
