I just wanted to let all of you know that Jinx passed away early this afternoon. I tried as hard as I could but could not help him get better after his flare-up Friday morning. When I woke up and saw him today, I knew he needed me to let him go. I had a vet come over to the house and he died peacefully in my arms.

I want to thank every one of you who have helped me and Jinx since joining this board. Your advice, knowledge, compassion, and kind words have helped me to provide him a level of care that has made him the happiest I’ve ever seen him and has helped me get through one of the most difficult times in my life. You are an extraordinary group of people and I am eternally grateful for everything you have done for me and Jinx.

Jinx, you have enriched my life beyond words. I will miss all the funny things you did like laying on my keyboard when I was trying to get work done, waking me up at 5 in the morning because you were hungry, and firing out of the litter box and making a mess. I will miss waking up and seeing toy mice on the bedroom floor, I will miss you greeting me when I get home, for laying on my chest and nuzzling before I go to bed, and I will miss waking up at night and looking over and seeing you lying next to me. I will miss everything about you.

You are my eternal friend and companion. I love you with every ounce of my soul and will never stop missing you until the day I see you again.

Fly Free Beautiful Jinx.

Jinx knows how much you love him, and will be waiting for you to join him.

I am so sorry for your loss (((((((((((((((Joe)))))))))))))))

((((((((((Oh Joe!)))))))))) I am so sorry to hear about Jinx. You tried so hard to help him and now you have had to give that hardest gift of all. Fly free sweet Jinx! He will never be truly gone, when you sleep he will always be there beside you.

(((Joe))).....my friend....my heart is breaking for you. I am certain that Jinx knows how very, very, very much he is loved and always will be. We all witnessed your amazing devotion and care of your best friend. You have given him the gift of love....it's so hard on us because we want to hold on for so long....but you thought of only him. In the quiet hours, you will see him, hear him, feel him.....he will be with you always. What a beautiful tribute to him.

You were a great bean to Jinx--Sending comforting Hugs & Love from us--
JINX Fly Free and Land Softly.........

Joe my heart is breaking for you and your girlfriend. I will always remember you and Jinx. I am so terribly sorry. I was really worried about Jinx but didn't think he would be crossing. I am sorry to ask but does the vet have an idea of what happened? I know he was dealing with a lot but I just expected with your care that he would turn around and be thriving. I see a lot of owners that put themselves first or do not do what they need to help their cat get better and its so hard to see. But you did everything you could. Wish I could give real hugs. I admire you so much and I wish I could help lessen the pain.

I will light a candle for Jinx tonight. *crying*

I am so, so sorry ... I know your heart is breaking, over the loss of your sweet boy .. I can only hope that you find peace in knowing sometimes letting them go, is the greatest act of love we can give them ...Fly Free Sweet Jinx ...

For some unknown reason, there are few men who stick around FDMB let alone few who hang out with the women here who have your sense of humor, compassion, and utter devotion as a caregiver. Your love and caring for Jinx was obvious to the point that several of us were concerned that you were not taking care of yourself. Having a life that depends on us enriches us in ways that we keep discovering. For you, it was always about Jinx -- he was never too much trouble (even if he did aim a bit high when in the box) or an inconvenience. Even to the last moment, you made the hardest decision we all ever have to face and made that decision based on what Jinx needed, not what was easiest for you. You gave Jinx a final gift.

Jinx will always be with you; he has a very special place in your heart and has taken a small piece of your heart with him for safekeeping. You get that piece back when you're reunited. For now, there are tears and we are all crying with you. At some point, I hope you'll read this fable of The Loving Ones. I hope it eases your aching heart.

Fly free, Jinx, and land softly. There are many there who we love dearly who have shared this last journey. They will help you find the butterflies to chase. When you're not too busy playing, remember to send your bean a rainbow so he knows you're safe.

I'm so very sorry to read about Jinx. My heart breaks for you. In time you'll be able to think of him and smile and remember the special bond you had. Fly free sweet Jinx, land softly. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I am so sorry for your loss. You did so much for Jinx and made the life he had so much better with all that you did for him. He was the main focus of your life for quite some time. The late night testing, the research on food and health conditions, the vet visits, you did it all. I still remember the story you told of the night he was nuzzling against you in appreciation for the care you gave him. And in the end, you gave the gift that is hardest of all to give. He will find happiness with the other kitties on the bridge. We will all remember the handsome Jinx.

Take care of yourself too,
Wendy - with tears on my keyboard.

Joe - this brought tears to my eyes. I am so very sorry. It is never easy to let them go, but I know you made the right decision. Jinx knows it too, and he will be forever grateful to you for letting him go. He will never be far away: in you heart, your memories and your minds eye. Fly free little one - you will be missed. Your daddy loved you very much. He will always love you.

joe, you have my heartfelt sympathy. your tribute to him is lovely & says what a special kitter he was in your life. you went above and beyond to care for a very sick little guy. it's one of the most difficult things in life to lose a little furry one that we love. my heart goes out to you in your grief. :YMHUG:

"For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart".

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Shedding a few tears for you, Joe! I was blessed by your description of what it's like to have a kitty around. It was so accurate and touching. They say the greatest act of love is to let go, and I'm humbled by your act of complete, unselfish love for Jinx. Thinking of the two of you tonight!

  So sorry for your loss, Joe.

You gave Jinx the best care ever. I know he passed with the least amount of suffering.

I don't post every day on here any more but do lurk and try to keep up with everyone.

I'm so sorry you had to let your beautiful boy go - but there comes a time when we have no choice. Saying goodbye is the hardest thing ever when they are our loving companions - my heart goes out to you in your sadness.

It sounds as if you had a wonderful life together - and I'm hoping that those memories will make you smile through your tears and sadness.

I am so sorry he couldn't stay longer with you.

(((((((((( Joe ))))))))))

I haven't been posting much lately, but Marje & Dyana have been kind enough to let me know what's been going on with you and Jinx. I've been following along silently. Joe, I am in awe of your love, devotion, and care for Jinx. You did everything you possibly could to help him. Today, you gave him the ultimate gift... setting him free from pain and suffering. I know the pain you're feeling. Many of us do. I can only hope that sometime soon your fond memories of Jinx will ease some of that pain and emptiness.

I'm truly sorry for your loss.
Hugs... and tears being shed with you.

~ Jill

I am so sorry to hear this, Joe. I have tears in my eyes reading your post. Our little guys are like family. When they are hurting, we are hurting. My life hasn't been the same since my little old Charlie has gotten sick, and I know that one day in the future, I will feel what you feel now. Just know that you did the right thing, and even coming to this community and giving it a fighting chance was more than a lot of people would have done. It takes effort, dedication, courage, and structure. You did your best. You will always have that little guy in your memories and he will stay close to your heart. All the best to you in the coming days.
