Jett has been on Levemir for 10 days now at 1 unit twice a day. You can see that his BG went really low on several occasions the first week. The vet wanted me to go up to 1.5 units twice a day in that first week, but I said "no" given the low #s that I had received. This week has been a different story with the higher numbers. Any words of wisdom and observations you can share is greatly appreciated. I was hopeful this would be the insulin for Jett.

Note: I've added a Medication worksheet to Jett's spreadsheet file. It's overwhelming!

Thanks for your help!

Oh dear..I was simply browsing..... The FDMB people will help you...they are experts..more so than some DVM's. I am not an expert but when Elliott was diagnosed with D.M., my DVM ordered NPH which did not stabilize anything and so I called and researched 24/7. Cornell experts said that Levemir was effective and could maintain very high levels but claimed inconsistency of regulation of BG reported in their studies and did not advise me to use it.Your spreadsheet shows BG levels that are so high..with a couple of lows. I guess your cat is handling the high BG well? . Elliott went in to remission within 4 months after being diagnosed. And though I am selling my 2 last sealed vials of Lantus, I have a full unsealed vial that I would provide to you free if you want to try it (pay shipping about $7.50). I was going to keep it just in case but I can keep a sealed vial instead. Cornell experts advised Lantus as slow absorption and the most reliable and stable for regulating BG. This was just their opinion but I trusted their expertise. Also, the first thing that came to mind was...Is the Levemir still good? And was it sealed and provided to you by someone or some pharmacy that you trust to begin with. Remember, I am no expert. I know NOTHING but do wish to help people like all of the FDMB people that helped me get Elliott well again. I hope that I have not spoken out of turn..Please let us know how Jett is doing!!!!

Yeah no idea what breeds she's a mix of. Subtle stripes are part tabby... But most likely just a mix.

As a "well known" member, maybe you could review Jett's sheet and reply to their request for help..especially since your cat is in remission too...YAY..It's wonderful isn't it!!! I will ask Chris and China to help too.

I do not know how to "tag" people..just sent a note to Chris..maybe she can shed some light on those high BG's...I was just trying to help and I have no experience with Levemir either...just passed on what was told to me..

Thank you, Wendy! I was wondering about a reduction (not an increase like the vet wants), but .75 is so imprecise since there isn't a line for it on the syringe. I guess I'm just giving a tiny bit less than 1 unit?? I just did a +8 test and he was 219, so that is a relief! Haven't seen a yellow # in awhile.

Thanks!
