Jeddie not feeling well today (1-18)

Not sure what's going on. He was throwing up (at least 3 times, but one was a hairball) and left a HUGE mound of very soft stool in the box (of course, not covering it up). I fed regular food (nothing new) so I am not sure what's going on. He was playing earlier in the day, before all this happened, but he's sort of subdued now. No one else is acting sick.

Right now, he is in my lap purring

Sending feel better vibes for Jeddie!

Hopefully it was just the hairball that was making his tummy upset and it will pass quickly.

Hairballs were always a problem for Gandalf, ironically until I started feeding him that nasty, nasty Hill's "hairball control" food. that stuff should be outlawed.

Hopefully that's all it was. I can't imagine that kind of upset making them feel good. If he's purring, he's probably feeling relieved but maybe the stress has him acting sick.

Thanks, everyone! He is quiet today, which is not his normal self, but he isn't throwing up and so far no diarrhea (I think he cleaned himself out yesterday  ). He does seem to be eating normally. Yesterday he was in full pica mode, eating bits of fur and cardboard. It seems like he is driven to do it and I wonder if it is like eating grass to force vomiting when he isn't feeling well.

That sure sounds like it could be the case. I don't suppose you have a place for your grass bowl in the wintertime. He probably misses it! I know Tigger misses not being able to go outside and munch on grass. He had a hairball the other day and he was gagging and trying to bring it up and instead brought up half his dinner! Yuck. At least it was on the basement carpeting. He was fine afterwards though.

HOpe he does alright today. I converted a litter tray into a patch of lawn for my cats. As flat dwellers they only have a balcony, no garden. Ak likes his patch of grass, but the grass they eat grows from the next pot along, its a patch of lemon grass. They LOVE it.

They won't stop eating grass if I leave it where they can get at it, so I put it up high and forgot about it and it died  .

Last week, right before the real freezing cold snap, I brought in the catnip because it was refusing to die outside even with nights in the teens and 20s. I had harvested and dried all of it and it was putting out shoots from the stems - little tiny, tender leaves - so I felt bad for it and transplanted it into a smaller pot. I was really rough with it, ripping roots and breaking up the dirt and stuffing it into the pot. Now it is about 4-5" high! Just one week later! So, I give them each a couple of leaves from that. I have it inside a "cage" with three side blocked off, but they are trying to reach into the cage and get the catnip. I was thinking of hanging it from the ceiling, but I have visions of them jumping 6 feet to get at it - and pulling the whole thing out of the ceiling.

He seems to be all better. He is is in my lap right now, purring.

I think the deli turkey I have them for treats had gone bad, although it didn't smell bad to me and he was the only one that got ill. Otherwise, I have no idea what happened.

Thanks for asking.

I'm glad he's feeling better.

As for the cat nip, you can't kill it, I've been trying for years. I planted some in a pot out on the patio years ago and it jumped ship and has now spread all over the yard.
