OK - forgot to test before bed, but he was acting "weird" at 5am (+9) so I tested and he was 93. He was tearing around the condo and when I got up to see what was going on, he threw up a leaf.

He was 114 this am at +12. Again, I wonder if he dropped low. He did not want me to test him either time, so he knows his BG is normal/low. Smart boy! I only shot .5u this am.
 
Hi there, I wanted to come see how everyone is doing.

The thing is, I was going through a binder of print-outs all of my posts (and replies) for BigMac from first post to his OTJ day and I had to shake my head in wonder. That first day on Health I asked for advice getting blood tests since I couldn't get a big enough drop. Anyway I had given all the pertinent background info regarding diagnoses, food, symptoms, insulin and dosage, etc. I posted in the morning and received lots of good advice on how to get successful blood tests.

BUT no one said anything about how ridiculously high the dose was until that evening. And it was you Sheila. I will be forever grateful that you stepped in to say that 5 units BID was dangerous ... since my kitty had only been on insulin for 5 days! I still shake my head in disbelief.

So I wanted to say thank you again for helping to save my kitty's life. :-D

I wish the best for Jeddie and Beau and hope things are going well for you.

And how is Big Mac doing these days? Do you still test him? (I guess I could check out his SS, couldn't I?). I only test Beau every 2 weeks or so now. And how are you?

No, he thinks he knows he doesn't need insulin - and insulin always come after mommy pokes his ear. So, in his mind no test = no shot.

He was 201 tonight. So I guess I could have shot the .6u this morning. At least I will be able to get a curve done this weekend - or just some checks between +4 and +8.
 
Friday am - he is 80 at +12. I am waiting 30 mins, but I already fed him. Probably will reduce his dose to .5u even though he was higher last night after getting .5u yesterday am. (was 132 at +3.5 last night)

And, yes, he was very crabby at test time, and yes, Vicky, he growled at me.
