That should be fine.

Do you hold the poked spot for a few seconds after you get the test? That should help with any bruising. And neosporin helps also. You can also do both ears, and up and down the sides, once he has started to bleed better than he did in the beginning.
 
I use a cotton ball or paper towel and hold it for 20 sec. Then most days rub neosporin on the ear to help with any bacteria. I think his ears are thickening. I am going to try closer to top next time.
 
I would stick with what worked this morning. If this is a bounce (and I firmly believe it is) then you don't want to "shoot the bounce" by raising the dose. Bounces are okay, they're just frustrating after seeing those nice lower numbers. They go away on their own. More insulin won't make them go away.
