Jane's troubling symptoms

She's lost weight; her raspy meow is subdued; she occasionally loses her balance in her rear legs and they step slightly sideways. Purring in my lap now; vet is closed for weekend.

Thoughts?
 
Hopefully, the insulin will help. I'm sorry to see Janie having troubles.

Please give her kisses from us in Georgia.

OMG. I know where we were going mentally. ok. BG is up because of something going on. I would make appointment and have her checked out ASAP. teeth or something
 
I am with Dian....Miss Jane needs to be checked. Hopefully it will be an easy fix and she will be back at the falls soon!
 
Darn - got your e-mail - read the post and my heart jumped up in my throat - AHA is right. I'd sure agree with everyone that she needs to be tested soon as can be but meanwhile get that BG down, down, down.

Hope it's just a little infection or something very minor that can be taken care of NOW.

I hope Kris doesn't mine but figured I'd update here for those who don't go to FB, per posts on FB from Kris, she took Jane to ER, not much info yet other than BG is 600 and she'll be staying in the hospital

my thoughts & prayers for Ms. Jane
 
Thank you all so much -- even if I'm not on the board for months at a time, it's like coming home to family here.

Thank you, CIndy, for doing that -- yes, her bg shot up from 480 at home to 600+ at the vet, and her T4 was high, so we'll adjust the thyroid medicine, prob switch to oral rather than transdermal.

SHe was down to 5 pounds from her normal 7, and very dehydrated. She's on lactated ringers, short-acting insulin every four hours till she gets down into the 200s and is properly hydrated again. She'd had one dose of insulin and about a third of a bag of fluid when I kissed her goodnight, and she looked so much better already -- and for the first time today, was chowing down on some supper.

She'll have to be there at least till Sunday afternoon, but she's in the most excellent hands.

You all are my safety net, and I am grateful for every one of you. Thank you for being there for us...again.

Sounds better - so glad you took her in - hopefully she'll perk up even more and tomorrow will be a good day.

We love ya', Kris, and your diva Ms. Janie - and keeping you both in our hearts and prayers. Will watch for update.
