Greetings, Lantus Land!
Our last Update, 5th December 2012
I wanted to check in with you all and let you know I'm doing alright and sorting through the stuff that made the final months of last year what they were. The Emperor, His Majesty Karre the One and Only, is doing beautifully, and keeping his BG in the greens or low blues. (His SS is woefully out of date. I will get to that.) Magpie and Henry are making friends, albeit cautiously, and were spotted having a side-by-side meander through the garden last weekend - a first for them, and a triumph, to me. Luca recovered fully from the nasty eye injury he had and is racing up and down trees as per usual. Every few weeks, he learns a new cry or call, so that we'll keep rushing right to him regardless of the time of day or night and don't become complacent knowing it was just his regular "Hey, I'm home"-Alert. He fools me every time.
Jack and I are crazy busy. His new business projects are off the ground (and off the charts in terms of the amount of time they're eating up), I'm working on several of them with him, and when he doesn't need me, I get to focus on writing and art, which is wonderful. There's a gallery for young artists down town in Cape Town, and one of Jack's business partners runs it and is interested in a few of my pieces, which is incredibly exciting. Later this year we'll be looking at publishers, too. In a couple of weeks, I'm flying to Europe to spend a month with my best friend who is getting married. I can't imagine making it through even a day without the cats, let alone just over a whole month, but Jack has promised to give me daily reports and put them on skype video. He'll join me for the last week of my stay. I'm so excited about the trip. (Initially, I had hoped I'd be able to make a stop in the US and Canada, too, but it just isn't feasible this time. Next year, I hope. I'll be knocking on some of your doors!)
After my trip, I hope that I'll be able to spend some time here again and see what I can do to help. I think of you all and miss you so very often. When I can get an FDMB-routine back, there'll be plenty of newbies to meet, I see - welcome to you all, in the meantime.
See you all soon.
Many sunny greetings from the African Pride,
Hugs,
Jane.
