We got some crazy numbers, and I figured I had to be giving her fur shots - there was no other explanation. This evening, we took the clippers to her and shaved a flank section on each side, and I KNOW this was a good PM shot. I watched it go in the tent "door" into bare skin, and there was nothing protruding. I pushed slowly and completely, withdrew and rubbed.

And from her preshot of 376, she's at 461 at +2. I shot her scruff AM, so maybe it's the onset gap? Will stay with flank hereafter.

She had her oral tapazole at shot time as always, and has eaten a few times, but it's homemade cooked ground turkey with a little FF Classic Turkey & Gibs mixed in.

I'm just at a loss and feel certain I'm dooming her.

Help?

Hi kris
I also have an older cat (18ish) with multiple health issues...too long to list! She iss steroid induced diabetic and still on steroid. I go crazy trying to figure out all her variables. She bounces like your princess, too.

Im on my phone so cant see ss, but a rising number like that could be a bounce continuing upward. I find when Latte wants to drop or rise there is nothing I can do to change her mind. That said, +2 is early. Try another check around +4 and see if there is any drop. If not dropping tonight, watch for clearing of bounce in next cycle or so.

A few months ago we had an upward trend of #'s and I was afraid of possible fur shots. When your cat is sitting in 3, 4,500's you really cant afford those, right? I got syringes with long needles. This has helped my confidence a lot...despite the fact it was a rare occassion I gave her fur shots over the years with shorter needles/various meds. If the shaving works...gteat. But it is another tool.

I hope she comes down, but not too fast.

I have two thoughts. Jane may be bouncing off of low numbers. Alternatively, you might have a bad Lantus cartridge. When I've had bad insulin, Gabby's numbers have been weird.

This number pattern (green to black) looks familiar for Janie. She can bounce really hard from the greens, then take three or so cycles to clear. Let's see what today's cycle looks like. You are doing the best you can, I don't see anything to change until the next two cycles are in.
