Well, I feel bad this morning. Sammy was hollering "Hello!" at 5am and I just couldnt bring myself to get up to feed her a pre breakfast breakfast. Now I feel I should have, because she might not have bounced if I had done so.

I am wondering about putting out a super low carb dry food for over night snacking. Thoughts? Is there such a thing?

Personally I won't even have dry in my house after seeing the difference an all wet diet made in even my civies...With 16 I have a lot to compare with lol.

If you think having food available overnight would help her I would just leave extra of her regular food down. Either add extra water to it or what I do since I only feed 3 times a day is their evening meal I put down half of it frozen then top it with a fresh portion so they fill up on the fresh and then can nibble at the frozen as it thaws.

AH! Frozen! I never thought of that, which is really stupid since Sammy used to love her kibble frozen! That is a perfect solution! thanks.

Now I am off to make kitty-sicles.

I am the same way - NO DRY FOOD WILL EVER CROSS MY THRESHHOLD AGAIN. It is an all-around unhealthy food. No carb or low carb - It sticks to their teeth causing major dental problems, not the mention Urinary Tract Infections. You found our soapbox I'm afraid :-D

I have used cat-cicles before. Freeze them in non-stick muffin pans, run some warm water over the bottom to pop them out and keep them in a freezer bag. I put one out at night and it is usually gone by morning. Be sure you add some water to whatever food you are using.

Both of my cats love water, always have, even before FD in Sammy. We have two cat water drinking fountains, which of course encourages them to drink more... cats hate still water.

I do add water to their FF though, in an effort to keep it moist longer... They dont like it once it starts to dry out.

None of my cats drink water from a water bowl. In fact, I have one, just in case, that I have to empty every week because of the dust. My cats get all of their hydration from their food. This was a result of taking up the dry food - cold turkey!!! They got over it!

They go to the faucet like they want to drink but when I turn it on all they want is to watch it

I understand freezing works for lots of kitties. Not my Lucian. He won't touch anything that's been sitting more than 30 mins, frozen or not.

He wakes me about every 3 hrs during the night to eat and be put back on the bed. Since he had dry for 14 yrs, he's used to eating when he wants, he's a grazer. I wish I could figure out a way for him NOT to wake me.

What you are also seeing here is a little New Dose Wonkiness or more specifically New Insulin Wonkiness. Yes, both Lantus and Levemir are depot insulins but the way they form that depot is different. Lantus forms crystals under the skin, Levemir binds and unbinds with the albin (sp?) So right now you have the Lantus shed draining while the Levemir one forms which will give you a few days of weird numbers.

Thanks Mel. I changed the way I was recording her shot this morning... I got some new reading glasses from the dollar store and really think I have been giving closer to .25 than I thought. We shall see! I am still pleased that she is not bouncing as hard, so far so good.
