Well, this day has not quite gone as I thought it would. Sammy started out with a nice AMPS of 216. She was pretty mad at me for not providing breakfast before she went to the vet.

The appt was for 8:30 and I was told surgery would certainly be done by noon. I waited until 1:20 to phone. I just spoke to the vet. Sammy had to have almost all of her teeth removed due to Resorptive Disease. She did well during surgery, woke up really quickly, and her BG was in high-ish but tolerable ranges throughout the procedure (330 ish). She had spiked to that high just going in the carrier to the vet, so didnt go higher after that.

I have no idea what this means for my cat as far as being able to eat, but I am told she will be in a lot less pain (after a few days) than she was before the procedure was done. I sure hope so.

I have to wait another 3 hours before she will be ready to go home. She is being observed and getting IV fluids now. I miss my cat!

I know that its like sitting on pins and needles!! Sending get well soon wishes your way!

She's gonna be able to eat just fine since she's already use to eating pate style canned food. Cats don't really chew to begin with. It may take her a little while to get the hang of what to do with her tongue when not eating. But she's going to feel so much better now that those bad teeth are gone. Hopefully they xrayed her mouth after they were done to make sure they got all the roots.

I know what you mean as crazy as they can drive me at times when one of mine is gone the house is just not right until they come home. Even as much as I threaten to rehome the drooler when he's being an a$$ the day he spent all day at the groomer's after the skunk incident drove me bonkers. I missed the big dumb lug.

Thanks for the reassurance. They did xray, before and after, and the vet is going to go through those pictures with me when I go get her.

The other thing that makes this tough is my husband does not know that she is at the vets today. He has asked me to never tell him the actual day/time when the animals are having something done (or even just knowing they have been put in a carrier!). He just cant handle the thought. So, consequently, I deal with this alone (but now I have you guys with me!)

2 hours to go till i can see my girl!

Mine's the same way when it comes to the critters. I'm the one that always has to be the villain by taking them in but he's more than happy to play the hero and spring them.

I lost track of how many teeth came out. Less stayed in. But she did exceptionally well, and after 2 steps of wonkiness she made a bee line for food and chowed down She is bright, alert and appears quite happy. Bizarre, considering she has only 2 or 3 teeth left other than the little ones across the front.

What a relief to have her home and eating. Tough day for you for sure. Hope she gives you cuddles... er when she gets over being mad at you.
