Thanks to all of you, and I mean that sincerely, Jake has reached his 20th birthday today. Two years ago, about February 5, 2010 if you want to read the posts, our friend Paige led me to you and you saved Jake's life. Long story short, Jake's then vet directed me to take him off his insulin (for some unknown reason) which I did because I did not know any better and had trusted her for many years. He developed severe DKA and the vet was trying to treat him by administering insulin and IV fluids by day and sending him home with me at night in case he died at night @&@*%. When that was not working, she wanted to put him to sleep to cover her errors, but could not do the "deed" until late in the afternoon. Thank God and I had a few hours to come to my senses. I got on the other feline diabetes site and that is where Paige found me and got me to you. Virtually all of you said to go and get Jake and take him to an E.R. which I did. It was touch and go for several days, but he made it. He came home with a feeding tube and the resumption of his Lantus. It was a wild ride from February 2010 until April 29, 2010, which was Jake's last insulin injection. He is doing quite well; His only treatment these days in Adequan for his arthritis. We owe his life to you and specifically Paige for "holding my hand" that awful Friday afternoon. If anyone has any contact her, would you please see that she gets this post. We will NEVER forget what you guys did - you literally saved his life and brought him to where he is today.
With much love and gratitude,
Judy, Jake, Boomer, and the beagle sisters
