I haven't posted in a few days - it feels like all I've been doing is tube feeding the cat and sleeping. I take some meds of my own that make me sleepy at night, so the midnight & 6am feedings were killing me.

But it's been worth it! Jack started eating by mouth on Friday! Just a little bit but it's a start. And it's Purina Cat Chow - dry, which I know isn't great, but he's eating *something*. 1/6 cup Friday and 1/4 cup yesterday. Once he's got the feeding tube out we'll try moving him to something healthier. One crisis at a time. And now that he's showing interest in food, the vet is willing to widen the gaps between feedings a bit. So we're up to noon, 6pm, 11:30pm and 7am. That extra 1.5 hours of sleep is huge for me.

BG testing is still an issue, although I've had a bit more success. I've figured out where in the house has the most light, which helps. Originally I was trying to go to wherever he was at the time and the light wasn't always great. Plus I make a mean kitty burrito now. ;-)

I think we're going to settle into the status quo for a few days - let him readjust to eating by mouth, and let me practice more BG tests. We have a vet visit Tuesday to check the tube and just get a general idea of how things are going. So, I think I'm getting a handle on this. (I hope)

Sounds like that should be Jack and his bean are coming along nicely!

When I am testing Vyktor where the light isn't so good I put a small flashlight in my mouth so I can see.
